Starting with the good part. The staff at breakfast couldn't have been more pleasant, welcoming and helpful. A lovely start to each of our three days.
We had an issue with one of the twin beds which we didn't notice until a late bed time and thus we couldn't speak to reception until the following morning. There was an issue with the "topper" mattress where it appeared to have been washed at an incorrect temperature, there were lumps the size of soup plates. We reported it to reception and went out for the day. On our return, the topper quite clearly hadn't been changed. We went back to reception who contacted housekeeping who reported they had no more "toppers" and that they were being ordered. I pointed out to reception that this didn't rectify the issue we had. We were offered another room as a solution. Not ideal with the hassle of repacking our luggage again, but certainly a remedy. It appears that no one would have dealt with the topper situation had we not complained about it twice.
Both rooms were slightly tired. Scuffs on the paintwork on the walls. There was a seal from one of the windows that had become detached. The dial cover fell off the shower tap and also on the electronic key fob on the door.
As mentioned at the beginning, the breakfast dinning room staff were exceptional. Unfortunately the same buzz couldn't be said for the reception staff. No real interest or engagement with the guests.
