You’ll know you’ve arrived at The Running Horse when you glimpse the metal galloping horse sculpture guarding the front door. Surrounded by lush countryside and peaceful views, The Running Horse Cottage allows you to completely relax, while still keeping you close to the action in downtown Fredericksburg.

A winding pathway leads through the bushes and up to the charming portico and front door. Once inside, the cozy living area feels spacious and open— thanks to the soaring vaulted ceilings and lots of natural sunlight pouring inside. The main living area is split into a bedroom and a sitting area. The bedroom features a plush king-size bed set into an elegant wood frame and flanked by two matching side tables with convenient reading lamps.

In the living space, colorful, jewel-tone armchairs face a stylish area rug and mounted flatscreen television. This comfortable arrangement creates a perfect space for reading, conversation, watching TV, or enjoying some local wine from the nearby vineyard. The corner fireplace supplies just the right touch of cozy comfort to a chilly evening. In the kitchenette, there’s a sink, mini-fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker.

This cottage also features a spacious and luxurious spa-like bathroom. Soothing pale blue walls contrast perfectly with the dark wood vanity. A separate bathtub is an ideal spot to soak soar muscles after a day of hiking or horseback riding. There’s also a step-in shower lined with classic, glossy-white subway tiles.

In the private backyard, there’s a patio space with a barbecue grill and a table with an umbrella. You’ll want to cook some steaks on the grill then roast marshmallows for dessert. The alfresco dining table creates the perfect place to sip freshly-brewed coffee while watching the sunrise, or enjoy some locally-grown wine while watching the sunset. The Running Horse Cottage allows you to enjoy the peace and quiet that the Texas Hill Country is famous for, while never being more than ten minutes away from the dining and shopping downtown.

This gorgeous property is planted and designated as a native Texas wildlife habitat that draws in many birds and pollinators such as butterflies and bees.

Easy Check-In Process
We use Happy Guest for a seamless, app-free check-in experience. Just complete your rental agreement, ID verification, and a simple refundable security hold of $1,000 (which is not a traditional security deposit, just a pending transaction) to receive your arrival instructions. If you'd prefer, you can opt for a Non-Refundable Damage Waiver instead, which provides coverage up to $1,500. The waiver is $53 for stays up to 10 nights, with an additional $1.50 per day for stays longer than 10 nights. It’s simple: finish these steps, and you’re all set to enjoy your stay!
