The hotel was very dated and tired but for one night it would do. We felt it needed an upgrade. We had a lakeside room but couldn’t have the door open during the night and there were no windows to open so the room got hot. The bed we had was very lumpy and we could feel the springs through the mattress topper this made it one of the worst nights I’ve had in a hotel. The staff were very polite and attentive on reception and in the restaurant. We had breakfast. Again the food options and the layout were not as we’ve had in other hotels. Two toasters for the dining room was not enough. We chose the English breakfast option. The portion on the plate was a child size for an adult. The sausage was under done and the fried egg was over done.

Quite disappointed considering the location of the property as well as its surroundings where I think a lot of potential has gone unrealised. Staff were courteous. I had booked a "Superior" double room which instantly led me to think of the state of a normal room. The decor both in the room and hotel as a whole was quite dated and very tired looking. The was a communal patio are outside of the room which would be nice on warm evenings to take in the scenic lake and surroundings. The bed was decent enough but there was a large space where you could tell furntiure had been previously. The bathroom was ok but the shower head was way too high and not adjustable with the extractor fan vent just above even though the fan was not operational. Breakfast was also disappointing with a cooked breakfast comprised of one small sausage, one rasher of bacon which was not cooked well and one poached egg with some beans. When walking down to the restaurant area for breakfast and back to my room again, I detected the strong smell of marijuana at the staircase which I corroborated with another guest who was passing and informed the front desk. The 2 main positive elements of the stay was the ceiling fan which kept me cool during a warm night and the surrounding area which allowed a decent hour long walk. Overall I would only consider staying here again if my remaining options were very limited.

I was working locally so stayed in this hotel. It was really clean and the staff was lovely. I had a room looking out to the lakes so great views. I ate at the hotel one of the nights and the food was OK.

Our stay at The Inn on the Lake was fine, everywhere seemed clean, the breakfast was nice, and the service was good. In terms of letting them know what they could do better, I’d say stop using Expedia to take bookings. We booked through Expedia paying extra for a lake view room, but on arrival were told that Expedia hadn’t passed that request on, so we only got a car park / motorway view room. We paid £88 for our room, whereas friends who stayed at the same time booked direct to Inn on the Lake and paid £62, so we paid £26 more for a similar room because we made the mistake of using Expedia instead of booking direct!

The property is very tired and needs updating. The bedding and bathroom facilities were poor, main light didn’t work, the bath panel was hanging off. The bedding was threadbare and stained. The staff were pleasant and the setting was very nice.
