The sun star is an expensive hotel right next to the cable car. Its main attraction for many skiers is that you can park there and collect your car later on the checkout day. However, I was told by an extremely rude and aggressive female member of staff that I would have to move my car at 8am in the morning to the Eiger public car park some distance away. This would have lost us an entire days skiing. I point blank refused to do this and an argument ensued in front of my young son. It wasn’t resolved and eventually I skied in the morning and returned to the hotel at 12 to see what was going on. So we lost half a days skiing. Needless to say the car was still there. Very frustrating and unnecessary. The member of staff really needs some sort of traing in how to deal with the paying public. So if yo7 are booking this hotel with the hole of using the car park on your checkout day be prepared for a row.

Overall, very nice! A couple of misses: I had to let the front desk know that there were several roll away beds left out and a bag of trash to collect outside our room. The English menu says veal when it’s actually a veal liver dish. I advised the management to update this. It was delicious, but we like liver.

Great location because several restaurants esp. great Italian restaurant with lovely pizza and lamb dishes, and shops. Food is very expensive. Better to do shopping in Co-op because reasonable prices. Small town, but lot of beautiful pleaces nearby... Staff are kind and friendly. Zurich Airport is far away therefore easy and cheap way to get to the hotel is by train. No trains in the late night until 5am to get to the airport. Taxis charge min 25 CHF. Better to get the hotel shuttle bus to go to the station or get a hotel room in Zurich day before departure because we had to leave this hotel one day before the checking out date and the hotel wasn't happy to refund the money to leave day early... Hotel gave us free bus pass which was very handy to see the town.

Our Favorite Hotel – Sunstar Grindelwald

This was without a doubt our favorite stay in Switzerland. Sunstar Hotel in Grindelwald is simply amazing—the views, the atmosphere, the service, and the location are all outstanding. The staff made us feel so welcome, and the hotel itself has a warm, inviting charm. But what truly took our breath away was the view from our room. Waking up to those stunning mountains felt like waking up in heaven—an experience that fills you with gratitude. We will always remember our stay here and cannot wait to return. Highly, highly recommended
