We stayed over Christmas and this cabin was a dream come true. It was perfect. It has everything you need. It was so nicely decorated. So much attention to detail. Absolutely charming! Beautiful house, beautiful views. The town is so quaint and hiking nearby is beautiful. Would definitely stay again.

We spend a week in Highlands every summer. We revel in the cooler temperatures and love the nearby hiking opportunities. This was our first stay at this house and we were thrilled with the experience. As others have said, the porch is delightful. Much of the time we were at the house was spent here. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need.

The most amazing porch!

This home was so gorgeous, spacious yet cabin feeling. We had plenty of room for 3 couples for a wk. And the porch? OMG, never seen one better. Outdoors but partially closed in w/heaters & fireplace to stay warm on those chilly days. Loved Highlands and Franklin. Great shopping and restaurants. Will be back.and Franklin

Great holiday trip!

We celebrated Christmas in Highlands with a family of 3 couples and an infant. This is my second time renting this property and it is great! Super clean, comfortable, love the 3 king bedrooms all with en-suites and the best is the large outdoor covered deck with heaters, fireplace and tv. Very well stocked kitchen. Only 1.5 mikes to downtown. Will definitely rent again.

Brothers’ Retreat

Absolutely wonderful!

This property was great! The pictures do not do it justice! It was super cute, comfortable with lovely decor and very comfortable beds! The outdoor covered area with the gas fireplace was definitely a plus and so enjoyable. Our group was four older adults celebrating a 65th birthday and we had plenty of room to spread out. The location was great. The house was well equipped and we were there when hurricane Helene hit. Thankfully they had flashlights, candles and extra water on hand. It was an amazing experience!

A Real Gem

Tucked away in the Mirror Lake area of Highlands, this home is a real gem, especially for adults. 3 Bedrooms, each with super-comfy King beds (with 1 bedroom also having 2 twin Quality linens, towels, furniture, appliances, etc). This is a home that the owners also use; and the pride they put in their home is evident everywhere you look. This is my 3rd stay at this wonderful home, and many more are anticipated. My go-to place when I travel to the Highlands area.

Ideal location, secluded yet close to town

First time staying at the Little Bear Cottage, but hopefully not the last! We have been coming to the Highlands for 13 years and stayed in several different homes, but this is easily our #1. All on 1 level. just 3 steps, which was great for us (70-something). Well stocked with amenities., nice dishes and silverware TVs everywhere. Rooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable. We had friends stay with us who had never experienced the Highlands before and they loved it. We are already talking about this as a location for future get togethers. You are just a few minutes from town, but it was so quiet and peaceful, you would have thought you were miles from civilization. Thanks for a great week!

August in the Mountains

We spent 4 weeks in August to escape the Florida heat. The property is in a heavily wooded and hilly part of the Mirror Lake neighborhood and only 5 minutes to downtown yet it feels very secluded . Plenty of places to hike and take long walks in the neighborhood. The house is well stocked and has everything you could need . The outdoor covered porch is great with large screen TV, remote control fireplace , propane grill , fans , etc. Property has plenty of parking spaces right outside the front door . Indoor space is roomy and comfortable. The Rec Park Pool is less than 10 minutes away. Owner is very responsive to questions. We lost power one night and owners had planned for that with a list of numbers to call and working flashlights in every room. This is our third trip to this neighborhood and this was the best property we have stayed in. Everything worked in the house and there were no surprises. Several close restaurants including On the Verandah, Highlands BBQ, and Los Vaqueros.

Perfect lay out of living areas and bedrooms. All furniture and appliances excellent quality. Extremely well stocked. Location only a few minutes from downtown Highlands and convenient to roads leading to other towns/attractions. One of the best VRBO experiences we have had. Would definitely stay here again

Amazing mountain getaway/retreat

The mountain home above Mirror Lake was an amazing place to stay. The home is beautifully appointed and well-equipped, with absolutely everything we needed for our visit. The setting and views were gorgeous, and we especially enjoyed the wonderful wraparound deck (with sheltered areas that were very welcome on the day it rained!). We highly recommend this exceptional property and gracious hosts, and would definitely book again if we are in the Highlands area.

Highlands Getaway

This was a great house for rental. It was exactly as described and more. Our host were quick to respond to our inquiries. Great location to downtown Highlands. We had a great time hanging out on the expansive porch with TV and fireplace. We definitely look forward to going back

Top Notch!

The house was beautifully appointed with comfortable beds, quality linens and towels, a fully equipped kitchen, lovely knickknacks, TV sets in every room, a bevy of supplies, gas and wood-burning fireplaces. No need to buy toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc. It is all there, and only a 5-minute drive to Highlands. All the comforts of home because it is a house that is lived in, rather than your typical dedicated, cold. barebones rental unit. Cheryl and Neil are wonderful owners/managers of this property and always quickly address and resolve any issues that may pop up.. This is is my 2nd time renting this property, and a I will definitely be returning. In every respect, a superb rental experience.

Great stay !

Great place to stay for our family of 6 adults and one 6 month old child. Great headquarters for Franklin, Highlands and Cashiers. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances, grill works great , the large deck maybe the best part. Would highly recommend. We all look forwards to staying again.

Quiet and relaxing

The property has been very well maintained and we found it to be clean, well-stocked and even better than the photos presented on the website. We had 6 adults and 1 child and had plenty of living space for everyone. We spent most of our time on the covered outdoor patio eating, talking and reading. The property was very close to town, restaurants and waterfalls. Our entire family said, let's rent this place again.

Excellent for 3 couples with plenty of privacy

We loved our stay here. 3 King bedrooms all with private bath attached which was great for 3 couples staying. We loved the covered deck with the fireplace, spent most evening out here enjoying each other's company. Would stay here again, for sure.

Perfect Cabin in Woods.

One of our favorite places we have rented in Highlands and we go usually twice a year. Loved the outside porch where we stayed most of the time. Inside was perfect also. Definitely will return.

Wonderful deck and very well stocked, great for entertaining a small group.

Overall I was very happy with the property. My biggest complaint is it should have been attended in a timely fashion before we arrived. The deck was thick with pollen and the inside of the house was quite dusty. We had to do some cleaning when we arrived. Also what we were not aware of was the steepness of the driveway. My son in law blew a tire on one of the corners of the drive. It was extremely steep and narrow in certain spots. On a positive note, the house was spacious and had great entertaining space and was well stocked. The bedrooms were large and there was a good amount of bathrooms.
