We really enjoyed or stay here. I do think it is important to make sure you know what room you are booking - our room had great views of the ocean and a wonder wrap around balcony, but there are other rooms that overlook the parking lot and would be less impressive, at a lower cost of course. They have valet parking for $25 per day or you can park on the street. We did valet parking as the street parking seemed a bit dodgy. The hotel next door has been turned into low cost housing - with many plywood covered windows and a lot of people with shopping carts loitering where you could find street parking. we had no issues walking to the nearby highlights such as the lovely Japanese Garden, or the park and picnic area on a spit of land, or to the hotel and their stores and amenities next door to the hotel, but it also didn't feel like a relaxing vibe when leaving the facility and we probably wouldn't have felt comfortable walking off the site at night. The hotel also provided us with free drink vouchers for their lounge and restaurant - though the drink options were limited and if you used the voucher for an alcoholic beverage there was still a $4 liquor tax per drink plus tax and tip so paying $6 or $7 dollars for your free beer seemed a little less like a bonus. We did use them for free soft drinks. The facility itself though absolutely suited our needs and was an amazing base of for us to be able to see all the great sights on the Hilo side of the Big Island.

Great location and beautiful grounds. Hotel was not good. It is being remodeled and desperately needs it. They require valet parking. Just add it to the cost of the room. Worst Hilton property I have ever stayed.

Family friendly hotel

We stayed here 3 nights to be be near the waterfalls, blacksand beaches and volcano national park. I loved our stay here. It was nice and clean. The room with an ocean view and the balcony is a must. It made our stay much more pleasant at first we had a room without the balcony so i asked to upgrade luckily they still had rooms available. I gave it 4 stars because it is an older building also valet parking and the elevators can take a while if theres a lot of ppl waiting.

The bar and restaurant staff were great. Especially Scott. Having to pay to valet when there was plenty of parking was annoying. They also put us in a room down a narrow hallway with the laundry and house keeping. At check in it was made clear they don’t appreciate third party app bookings. Maybe that’s why our shower only worked halfway, the bathroom door fell apart and the bottles attached to the wall in the shower started falling off at 3am. For the money I paid, I expected a nicer room. The beds were comfortable, so that’s a positive

Beautiful property but would have been nice to know that our suite was under renovations as this was our honeymoon. We got the king suite with the wrap around balcony, it wasn't cheap. Zero pictures on the wall and the front desk lady didn't seem to care. The restaurant downstairs had good service if you got the right server otherwise you sat there forever with nobody came- happened a few times. Lobby bar had excellent service.
