This cabin has charm to spare, and many of the original features are still present, but updates have been made in the most important places. It was a great fit for us (four adults), and there was room for at least one other couple. Phillips Lake is so clean that the water in the kitchen and bathroom is from the lake. Bottled water for drinking and cooking water was also provided. The waterfront and dock are wonderful, as are the views from the house. Access is convenient. We really appreciated the full-sized refrigerator, and plentiful dishes, silverware, cookware, and accessories. It was a pleasant surprise when preparing meals to have an actual sharp knife to work with. Many of the windows are brand new and open and close effortlessly to let in the breeze. Some things you should know about the cabin: the stairs to the bedrooms are steep and would not be suitable for less agile people, especially when heading downstairs to the bathroom in the night. The walls and floors are thin, so sound travels between rooms and floors. The property is quiet enough that you can hear some road noise from the highway across the lake most of the time from outside or through open windows. Scott was easy to reach and a great communicator. He met us at the cabin to show us around and answer any questions. You can expect to see and hear loons, and there are even bald eagles nesting on the lake. The public boat launch is near the cabin, but boat traffic was not excessive, and there are as many sailboats, canoes, and kayaks as there are motorboats. There are great places to hike and paddle in the area, but you could easily spend all of your time at this wonderful place. We would definitely consider staying here again, and would recommend this place to friends.
