All perfect apart from booking our meal in the evening in the restuarant .I booked the meal the guy in the bar wrote it down but on arrival in the evening the staff had no record of our booking .Eventually we did get a table but i noticed others were turned away for the same reason .What i will say is the restuarant staff were excellent and pulled out all the stops for us .I always tuse the Palace Hotel but this did not go down well .Of course the meal was excellent .

Definitely a lot of positives, the place looks great, includes the spa. The staff are great. The negatives was the wifi was hit and miss and when your phone signal is poor this is a nightmare. The layout of the breakfast is very poor, customers and staff moving in all directions leading to a shambles. Also a decent lager like peroni wants adding to the bar.

The room itself was impressive and very comfortable. However, the soundproofing wasn’t great — we were woken at 5am by the room above having a shower; it genuinely sounded so close it felt like the water was coming through the ceiling! It may not be an issue for everyone, but there were a lot of stairs and the room wasn’t located in the main hotel building. This meant going outside to access the bar and restaurant, and unfortunately getting wet in the process. I would have preferred the option of staying in the main part of the hotel. Breakfast was adequate, although I was given a decaf coffee instead of the tea I had ordered. On a positive note, the view of the castle was absolutely amazing and really made up for the inconveniences. The spa facilities were good, although we weren’t provided with robes in he room whereas other guests appeared to have them, which was slightly disappointing.
