Private retreat close to Beaches and Wilderness

Situated 10 miles west of Sooke, British Columbia, Wyndyhaven Cottage gives you a private place to relax and unwind with amazing views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

The space
Vaulted ceilings, tall windows, and open layout contribute to a very comfortable spacious feeling. This 600 square foot house boasts a huge deck with a propane bbq and comfortable seating looking west to Orveas Bay in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. WiFi is available.
The Primary bedroom features a Queen-sized bed, dresser, spacious closet and tall western facing windows. The secondary bedroom has a Double bed, closet, and a lamp for a private place to study or work.
We take pride in following all public health and government health and safety recommendations for our cottage.
The open concept living, dining and kitchen area has a vaulted ceiling and boasts beautiful views of the ocean, the Olympic Mountains and over the farm, including the tree that Eagles are nesting in. The living room is air conditioned and has a 55 inch TV.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive access to the first floor of the house, as well as the deck and the fenced yard. There is parking for up to two vehicles at the house. The farm is private and gated.

Other things to note
We are close to the ocean, and to wild BC! You may wish to download two apps prior to your visit. SF Lite will give you the name of ships going by and Merlin will help Identify the many birds and their songs.
It is a short walk to Gordon’s Beach. Other beaches within a short distance are Muir Creek, French Beach, China Beach, Mystic and Sombrio. Each beach has its own distinct identity, from long sandy shores, rocks, tide pools, fossils and great surf!
The Juan de Fuca Regional area has many wonderful hiking trails. We are close to the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail and a short drive to Port Renfrew, the start of the West Coast Trail.
Downtown Sooke is a ten minute drive east and includes all the necessary amenities. During the summer, take advantage of the local Sooke farmer's markets and farm stands for great produce! A short drive west of us is Shirley Delicious restaurant and Stoked Wood fired pizza as well for quick and delicious take out. Bad Dog Brewery is a casual micro brewery about 5 minutes drive away.
Parking for the cottage is gated and on-site
This is a shared property. The owners live adjacent to the cottage and are happy to help if you have challenges (please message them through the VRBO app).
Earplugs are recommended for light sleepers. There are chickens and a rooster onsite, donkeys next door and frogs in the pond. At Gordon’s Beach there are sea lions that often bark in the mornings. Each species has its own noise, which can be startling.

Amazing place to stay

It was a perfect place for us to stay on a beautiful property. Communication with the host Margot was excellent , she made everything as easy as possible. If I am ever down in Sooke again I will be hoping to stay there and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Margo was an incredible host, she was available to help with any questions we had and had lots of information about all the local parks and activities. She provided us with fresh vegetables from her garden and eggs from her neighbour. The view of the ocean and mountains was incredible. It was so peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Margo and Pat were so gracious and generous. Thank you both!!
