We had a lot of trouble reading the app trying to find the host’s phone number. It was pretty well hidden, but once we got there and found out where the host was (one of the other renters told us where he lived) we walked over and knocked on the door. He turned out to be a really nice guy, and authentically Alaskan. He asked us to fill out a form so he had our information on paper and he gave us a key to the room. The room is small, clean and bare bones for amenities and is exactly as advertised in the app. Pros: the water is wonderfully hot and the shower has good water pressure. The bed is comfortable. The surroundings are beautiful. The price is excellent. Cons: no microwave or coffee pot so that’s a good reason to visit the Kasilof Mercantile restaurant that’s just a few minutes away and has really good food; the water in the room has iron in it so bring your own drinking water. The towels are tiny so if you want a big towel, bring one and there isn’t a hairdryer so bring one. I would definitely go back and visit this place again.
