This was a mixed experience for us. On one hand, the farmhouse setting is gorgeous. The location is idyllic, surrounded by horse farms and Mother Nature. We saw foxes! And we spent an entire day at Longwood Gardens looking at the cherry blossoms. At the same time, it's only 17 minutes to West Chester and Kennet Square, and an hour to Philadelphia. I was thrilled to wake up to the countryside every morning and still be close to good restaurants and easy trips into the city. The challenges were: 1) the steps going to the second level are treacherous. My partner is legally blind, and the steps were so narrow that it felt risky to him going up and down them (especially with luggage). Even as an able bodied person, I felt that the steps were challenging. 2) we arrived on a warm spring day with temps in the low 80s. The AC units weren't all installed, and the upstairs was hot and stuffy in the bedroom where we stayed. There were also stink bugs in the upstairs. I understand that the countryside comes with insects (I grew up on a farm) but these were a lot of stink bugs. I asked the host for bug spray, and she said that there was some below the kitchen sink. Unfortunately we couldn't find it. That first night we honestly considered relocating to a hotel. 3) the downstairs toilet stopped working on our last night. The host responded quickly to my questions which I appreciated. Our stay was great in some ways and not so great in others.
