The location was perfect for us . We loved that we were within a few blocks to the Nishiki market, Takoyakushi-dōri and walking distance to Gion and the train station. You walked out of the building to lots of stores, restaurants and activity but our room backed onto a temple so was very quiet at night . The facility was clean and the reception very helpful. The room had linoleum not carpet easy cleaning. Room size was decent. We had a twin room and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Clean room. Staff are friendly and helpful. The lounge is cozy and spacious. They provide free snacks at certain times. The hotel location is walkable to two subway stations.

This is a wonderful hotel. Walking distance to temples, Gion district, the subway and the local food market. Check in was quick and efficient. I would suggest upgrading to the larger rooms - it is worth it. Another suggestion - don't be afraid to take a cab/Uber - prices are reasonable and it is impeccable service.

Stayed 4 nights at Hotel Musse Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi Meitetsu, best decision ever!! Let's start with friendly staff, check-in went smooth, all toiletries self service next to the elevator. Room is clean and spacious, as a matter of fact the biggest one among all the hotels we stayed in Japan. Perfect location on the main shopping districts, Nishiki market is only 2 minutes walk, subway and train stations also within minutes walk. Lastly, plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from.

I rarely write reviews but have to for this as the property and the staff were amazing. I used to be in hotels and the upkeep on Hotel Musse has been amazing. Ie still looks and feels completely new. It was so quiet - despite being in the absolute thick of things. It is right on the main shopping strip - also right beside the Kamo and Pontocho alley and in bw 2 stations. Breakfast was great and the drinks machine in the lobby was a nice touch. there is a family mart right next door + a chemist + everything. Non hotel related but pls note that Kyoto is not as well serviced as Tokyo by subways and busses form the main mode of local transport here, so a lot of the time taking a taxi is a better saving especially of limited holiday time and also money. Also most retail shops and a lot of restaurants and cafes etc close at 8pm here so be mindful of this when planning.
