We stayed in a few hotels during our stay in Tokyo and Kyoto and this one was our favourite. Super modern with fantastic service and facilities. Spacious room with all the mod cons, beautiful amenities, treats, big bath & shower etc. Lemon cake and welcome drink on arrival. Fruit juices, water, soda water in fridge replenished each day. Drip coffee was cool - even loved the kettle! Big comfy bed, lounge area. Two choices of slippers - usual white ones and some japanese. Even had a dyson hairdryer. Was a few blocks from station - maybe one closer, we didnt check! Enjoyed wandering the area. Yum restaurants nearby, 7/11, Lawsons closeby. Our favourite souvenirs were from local craft store pretty much next door. Will stay again for sure! This hotel is stunning!

A staff associate, was excellent, Dody, he was very fluent in English and help us a lot, he provide us with a complete program to go to train station and to exit it and wrote messages in Japanese for the taxi driver, he was excellent. About the hotel I suggest the smoking room should have a bench or chairs and maybe add some music so smokers don’t feel it like being in prison, I renamed the smoking rooms in Japan as the “SMOKING CAGE” 😂

Breakfast was excellent! Staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. We loved the fact that there was no TV in the room. The location of the hotel was a little far away from the main streets so you would need to take trains or a cab (up to 2000 yen). A short ‘Noren curtain’ to separate the bathroom/toilet area and bedroom was not ideal. We needed more privacy…we got a room with balcony but there was no chairs/table outside….

Very cool and gorgeous hotel. Beware that this is a pay per person property. Loved the room MOGANA Garden. The minimalist design was gorgeous.

Very modern and sleek lobby and hallways but more traditional looking rooms, though with a modern flare. This is not a cute old-style ryokan. It's a super modern hotel tucked into a quiet, perfectly-located neighborhood that deceptively has a ton of shops and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and clean, staff helpful.

We stayed at Mogana for 3 days and 3 nights. I was speechless when I saw our room. It was super clean and the breakfast in the room was so delicious. I loved the way associates called us first to tell us when our breakfast was about to be delivered. Sano is so friendly. He answered all of our questions and gave us what we needed. I would totally recommend Mogana to my friends and family. If I have the opportunity to visit Kyoto, Japan again, I will definitely stay at Mogana.

A gem of a Boutique Hotel in Kyoto.

Mogana is a peaceful haven. Highly recommend this hotel. Walking distance to cute shops and cafes, as well as a good shopping district. Amazing amenities. Service was impeccable. Hotel's signature drink is to die for (my friend wouldn't shut up about it!). Would stay again for sure.

Rooms do look like the picture, BUT the views are NOT as advertised. You're likely looking at AC units or another unattractive view as my friends also had a similar view on the other side of the hotel. Lighting is not great in the bathroom. Coffee wasn't great as they had a drip system. Looked cute, but not awesome if you need coffee. It also wasn't as conveniently located as we thought. Not a bad hotel by any means, but not a 5 star.

This hotel provides a wonderful experience for those visiting Kyoto, Japan. The rooms are fairly minimalist, but much more spacious than most Japanese hotels, which have rooms that are often very cramped. The rooms here were not. The bedroom space and bathroom, especially the shower and tub areas, were very large for Japan standards. The staff were very gracious and helpful. The breakfast was exceptionally good. However, if you are one of those Westerners who is stuck with eating the standard American or European breakfasts and do not want to go outside the norm and experience Asian foods, you may be disappointed. For us, this was a highlight of the hotel. The food was excellent and the presentation very nice. The hotel is deserving of an its five star rating.
