Friendly and knowledgable staff. Centrally located. Very quite rooms at night...No street or other rooms noise. Shared bathroom inside the room. Family and young solo travelers welcome. Loved the place. I'm staying in the Central House Madrid when I visit there. I couldn't stay in Central House Porto, because it was all booked the days I visited.

Breakfast was excellent, service too! Beds are not that comfortable and remember you need to pay for the towels needed. Be sure if you pick a room for 3 people, they will charge you for a quadruple ~ not for an extra guest in a two bedroom. GREAT LOCATION!

The location is great! But that's about it. We booked on short notice after a booking somewhere else fell through. We reserved a private quadruple room with a bathroom. The shower had visible mold in all corners. The beds were fine. I enquired about towels before arriving and was told they're included in our booking. On check in they told me i need to pay for them but after some discussion and showing them the message, the gave me towels. On the third day i asked for fresh towels but again they insisted i pay for them. Overall, it's fine for a hostel, but considering how much we payed here, its poor value for money

The location was great. Everybody was friendly and rooms are spacious and new. The only thing : The ventilation in bathroom (room 203) was not enough. There are some black molds in the shower. It was not an issue for me. They should use bleach to remove them.

Great location, very modern & clean, book it!

Location was amazing. 2min walk to a metro station. 10-15min walk to most Lisbon downtown attractions. 5min walk to the train station. Lots of restaurants within 7min walk. The place was really modern looking, very clean, the staff was super friendly and helpful. They suggested places to eat and directions to get to places. The room was also modern and clean. I really like the concept of having the curtain on your bunk bed. It gives you some privacy and helps to sleep when people come in at different times and turn on the lights. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. So glad I’m staying at the central house in Madrid and Barcelona too. At least I know it’ll be a good place!

Overall the Central House is a great home base. I stayed in a 4-bed coed dorm. The curtained bunks are cute and efficient, with a light, plug, and little shelf inside. The beds are inexpensive enough that I booked for my entire stay, even though I did an overnight elsewhere. It was nice to have a locker to leave things in and come back to. Being in the Baixa, it's centrally located and convenient wherever you're looking to explore in the old town -- Baixa, Bairro Alto, Chiado, Alfama, even Belém is just a quick trolley ride away. The only downside is that the Central House doesn't have a kitchen which, as a longtime hosteller I expected and didn't even think to ask about. Unfortunately this made my trip significantly more expensive as I had to eat out for every meal. CH does provide a breakfast option for €8.50 but I opted to eat out at Hygge House or Copenhagen Coffee Lab, both very close and with much better bang for your buck. Still, CH is beautifully run with excellent service and hospitality, clean rooms, cute bunks, and a very convenient location.
