I wonder if the hotel is being used for recent immigrants. We were the only English speaking and white people in the hotel, which felt strange. The local area has good facilities, including a small shop, Creams, barbers and a park, however while we were there, there was a fight down the road from our hotel in the evening which made us feel slightly unsafe.
We also noticed that there were no women walking around the local area alone. There seem to be men from other nationalities everywhere at all times of the day, and I felt uncomfortable.
Our room was a non-smoking room, however the smell of smoke was overwhelming. We had to pay a deposit before being given the keys (which we weren’t informed about) and were informed that if we smoked in the room, we wouldn’t get our deposit back. They also say that the deposit will be returned in “3-5 days because it is an automated system, however we have yet to receive ours back over a month later. The deposit situation worried me because the room smelt so strongly but neither of us smoke and we knew it wasn’t us and smelt when we arrived. I felt unwell in the night because I have asthma and we left earlier than planned the next day.
We did appreciate the parking, although it is very small and most vehicles were blocked in by others.
