Location, location, location
The interior was very clean, looked like it might have been recently painted, because the walls and baseboard were perfectly clean, but it did not have new paint smell. Floors also were very clean, as was the kitchen and bathroom. WiFi worked well. I did contact someone through VRBO because the coffee machine and ceiling fan/light in front room did not operate. I never heard anything back, but the coffee machine was working the second day. The property is located walking distance from Churchill Downs. The beds were acceptable. I felt the kitchen was understocked, cooking utensils were minimal, no potholders and no toaster, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker. The issue is location. Being close to Churchill Downs would be great on Derby Day, but that was not Derby Day when we stayed. The properties in this area are located very close together, like feet apart. We could hear the T.V. In the adjacent house. You could also hear conversation from Nextdoor houses, and it was cold enough that everyone’s doors and windows were closed. There was a fresh bad of trash on the front porch when we arrived, no doubt from someone along the street. The alley behind the house is lined with garbage cans and trash. The back yard had empty cans, paper trash and other items. I picked up some of the stuff and walked the 15 feet to the trash bin and deposited it there. We felt it necessary to completely empty our car each night, because we did not feel it would be safe to store there overnight. I am tryi
