Comfortable but our room was a bit tired. Could do with a few more lights in the room - it was very dark looking out at an office block. Calls and messages to reception (via their system of using WhatsApp) went unanswered.

Great location hotel. Lots of options for breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel room on the ground floor was noisy (Christmas party in the basement went until midnight) and a little empty. Bathroom was large but cold, and hot water hard to adjust. Beds small being doubles but the room could have accommodated much bigger for customer comfort. Parking not too far but not easy to drop bags and go and park. Overall good hotel.

We arrived for our stay, having arranged a room upgrade separately after receiving an offer from the hotel. We were then advised on check in that they could not honour that upgrade due to over booking and we would be allocated our original room type. Fair enough. The lobby and shared areas of the hotel all seemed nice with a modern design as expected from the photos on the hotel profile and we were expecting our room to be to a similar standard. Unfortunately this was not to be. The room was was incredibly dated, and up on the higher floors with only a tiny window mostly blocked by a stone balustrade. The floor squeaked, exposed wiring was visible, old fixtures had just had a quick lick of paint, tacky LED lighting surrounded a ceiling fixture which was covered in dust. Bits of grout were missing in the bathroom with gaps around flush plates. Plaster was cracked in many places. All in all, nothing like you would expect from the pictures. Just very dated and very hastily refurbished at some point with very little maintenance in the meantime. Hotels.com and the staff of the hotel were helpful in agreeing to cancel our booking and issue a refund as they were unable to offer a room to a better standard. This left us facing the expense and stress of having to book another room elsewhere at very short notice, costing an absolute premium.

Review of The Alan Hotel The hotel was presented to a high standard of cleanliness, and the staff were consistently courteous, attentive, and helpful. However, several aspects of the stay were disappointing. The £30 small pizzas were burnt on the underside while remaining undercooked on top, which was unacceptable given the price point. Additionally, the pillow provided in the room was noticeably worn and in need of replacement. Aside from these issues, the overall experience was satisfactory.

Very clean. Staff very friendly and efficient. Great touches to the room including the Bluetooth speaker and the ability to cast to the TV. Comfortable bed. Lovely selection of tea, coffee and biscuits. Breakfast was amazing, so much on offer and very high quality. Will definitely be back as we're in Manchester regularly. Great location too. Love the decor.

Location and lobby are good, the room was extremely dated. We were put on the top floor in an accessible room which was very warm even with the AC set to low. If you used the shower the entire bathroom floor was then soaked and you had to go to the toilet or brush your teeth in a puddle. Amenities were limited, the room was small and the value for money was poor.
