The staff were nice and helpful, and I personally had no issue with them. However, unfortunately I did not feel safe staying at this hostel.
While I was in the kitchen/common area, an unknown person approached me, started asking strange and uncomfortable questions, and then repeatedly asked me for money, saying he had no money. As a tourist in a foreign country, the situation made me extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. I felt uncomfortable even speaking to reception while he was nearby, so I collected my belongings and left immediately and booked another hotel.
There were also issues with the hot water/heater since the previous night, although I was willing to overlook those and had not complained. The main reason I left was purely safety.
Again, the staff were good, but I believe the hostel needs to take guest security much more seriously. Regardless of who the person was, guests should not be put in a situation where they feel unsafe enough that they have to leave their accommodation.
