Our stay at The Roads in Miami had several unexpected challenges. We arrived on January 5 to a very dark exterior and interior, making entry difficult. Once inside, we noticed a musty odor throughout the home, especially in the laundry area. The driveway gate was broken and left open, which was concerning as we were traveling with a dog, though we were eventually able to secure it.While the location was excellent and close to our daughter’s home, the property appeared to have unresolved renovation issues. The toilets were loose, the hot and cold water were reversed in the shower and washing machine, and the master bathroom door was difficult to operate due to humidity swelling.A clogged drain in the guest bathroom caused water to back up and leak around the unsealed toilet, resulting in a small flood and lingering odor. Management responded promptly and sent a plumber, but we handled additional cleaning ourselves to resolve the issue quickly. During a heavy rainstorm, we also experienced multiple roof leaks that required assessment and repair.The homeowner was apologetic and stopped by with pastries, which we appreciated. However, given the number of maintenance issues and the inconvenience of coordinating repairs during our stay, we feel some form of compensation would have been appropriate.
