You can experience city life and culture in Motala, which is considered the capital of the Göta Canal, and Vadstena. The latter town is known for its medieval old town, in particular the monastery and abbey church of St. Birgitta and Vadstena Castle, which is surrounded by a moat by the lake. You can also visit the Berg locks and the Cloetta chocolate factory in Ljungsbro or the medieval cathedral in Linköping.
