It was across street to train station and a walk to Nara park and temples was easy. The breakfast was great. The hot springs was awesome. The staff was amazing. This was an absolute perfect spot for an overnight in Nara. It was authentic for western travelers like our family. Excellent!!

I felt the staff really didn't want me there as a non Japanese person. Was met with cold stares when I politely asked questions, even when providing the translations, and was told to quiet down when talking in normal tones in the dining area. And as a single lady was given the worst room in a half empty hotel ( 2nd floor over the garbage bins which were collected at 5am every morning). Plus, The beds were hard, the pillows harder. All the other hotels in Japan I stayed at bent over backwards making me feel welcome. Will not return to this one.

Nice hotel and Onsen was great, however I reserved the room on Expedia and when I checked in the rate was much higher than the rate listed. I even showed them the price on the Expedia website. They already had my CC number and smugly told me I could not cancel as it was “non refundable”. I was also placed in a small room, when I had reserved, and paid for the larger option. Felt cheated. Of course there is nobody at Expedia to resolve any issues of this kind in real time. Likely won’t use again.

This place was amazing and beautiful. I loved everything about it, especially the complementary ramen they serve at 9:30 pm and everyone comes to eat it in their pajamas. It was fun and prestigious and had the best service. I highly recommend.
