Hello all, and Happy 2026! We have opened bookings starting the afternoon of Sunday May 31, 2026 up to the morning of June 28, 2026. Our preference is to have guests book week-long stays starting at 3:pm on Sunday to the following Sunday 11am departure. We will offer available July dates soon (returning guests have already spoken for the period from July 19 up to the very end of August).

Roomy and comfortable, perfect for a family vacation! Golden sand beach out front*. Fabulous views of the Northumberland Strait, including Pictou Island, the PEI ferry crossing, and sometimes even PEI itself. Three bedrooms that comfortably sleep six. One full & one half bathroom. Large eat-in kitchen. Separate living/dining room with vaulted ceiling. Enclosed front porch and new front deck for morning coffee. Big back deck for afternoon/evening BBQ. 10 minute drive to Melmerby Beach (best public beach in Nova Scotia), 15 minute drive to New Glasgow. 30 minute drive to the PEI ferry located at Caribou NS. 2 hour drive to downtown Halifax. Choice of 3 local golf courses. Cross-fit gym available in New Glasgow as well as a yoga studio and the Pictou County Wellness Center. Great local roads for cycling, and trails for hiking/biking. Attractions include the Museum of Industry in New Glasgow, and the deCoste Performing Arts Center in Pictou. Day trips include the town of Antigonish - you can could also continue east to access Cape Breton, the Cabot Trail, and Fortress Louisburg, or you could instead drive north around beautiful Cape George (the "little Cabot Trail") parts of which can actually be seen toward the east from the front deck of the Cottage itself!

* depending on the severity of winter storms which can take away the beach sand (as in 2024), or bring it back again - we are right next to the ocean after all...

A True Nova Scotia Cottage Experience

Bill is an exceptional host. He is warm, responsive, and genuinely thoughtful. The cottage is an absolute gem: beautifully maintained, sparkling clean, and full of charm. The spacious deck and cozy sun porch offer breathtaking views of the ocean at any time of day and in any weather, making it the perfect place to relax and take it all in. Go North!

Oceanfront cottage on a budget!

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage! It was a good home base for exploring and visiting family nearby. The kitchen was well equipped and beds were comfortable. It was lovely to be able to look out the many windows and see the ocean or catch sight of several deer in the mornings. The host was helpful with a phone call to check in (and communication beforehand to answer questions), and the caretakers Cathie & BJ went above and beyond - very hospitable and friendly. We arrived later than planned and had a bit of trouble finding it in the dark (Google put us at the wrong address!), but Cathie came out and helped us out. The only suggestion I would add to the other feedback I've read, is you may want to bring some bottled/spring water to drink. The well water taste may not always be how it was for us, and certainly it was safe to drink, but we preferred a more familiar taste. Also, the listing may be made more accurate with updated photos of the beach. It has evolved significantly from the sandy beach in the photos, and while my kids still had a blast exploring the by climbing the rocks and finding tide pools, for a "classic" beach experience, we drove to nearby Melmerby Beach (worth the trip!). There is also a new larger deck on the ocean side of the cottage that is not pictured and is a lovely spot to sit in the morning with a coffee. Thank you for the great vacation accommodations!

Bissful Retreat

The cottage looks directly out on the ocean and offers an amazing vista each day regardless of the weather. Really enjoyed the many hours on the beach enjoying the views, relaxing, swimming and reading. Cathie and BJ are wonderful hosts attentive to every need.

Beachfront Cottage

Had another excellent stay at our favorite Blackpoint Cottage . Coming here is like coming home. The cottage is clean and spacious and welcoming. It is fully equipped and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Cathy and BJ the property managers are terrific and are there at a moments notice if you have any questions ... and dealing with the owner is seamless! A wonderful vacation, a lovely cottage and a perfect location . Thank you and hope to return next summer 🙏

The location on a bluff overlooking the water was superb. The cottage was clean and well-equipped. The caretakers were friendly and helpful in any situation. Our fourth year here and it does not disappoint! Beach is beautiful and and easy access to day trips to PEI or Cape Breton is the weather is not cooperating. Jacqueline had the place spotless for our arrival and JB the caretaker and his life partner Kate are true gems! Highly recommend this location!

Stunning views both sunrise and sunset and everywhere in between. The cottage was completely functional, had great breeze off the water and cozy. We had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. Initially we booked for one week and jumped at the chance for the second week! 14 days was not enough time to relax and unwind and take in the breeze off the water! Wonderful spot!

Second time was as good as the first!

This was a return visit and like the first time, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at " Beach Front Cottage". We have family in the area so the location was perfect for visiting and catching up. From the front window you can watch the fishermen bring in their catch early in the morning, enjoy visits from the local deer population, or just watch the water coming into shore, the view is spectacular. The cottage is well supplied with everything you will need. Arrive, unpack, sit back and enjoy!
