The property was great! I really liked that it was within walking distance to the French Quarter but still in a quieter area. The room was nice and spacious, and we actually ended up extending our stay by an extra night. My only two complaints would be that some of the staff were more friendly and helpful than others, and housekeeping only attempted to service our room once in four nights—at 8:30 AM. Since we were out of the room from around 10 AM to 10 PM every day, it would have been nice if they had come back or at least checked in. Overall, I enjoyed the hotel and would stay again. I understand we were there during a busy time, but a little more attentiveness from housekeeping would have made the experience even better.

Nice vibe

Nice vibe - converted old building with modern fixtures and exposed brick. The front desk staff were great - one gave us an excellent recommendation for a breakfast place nearby. The hotel had both character and cleanliness. And it was near the French Quarter but just outside the hubbub.

Based on the lobby and restaurant, we were hopeful of the hotel and room. Alas, we were disappointed. The rooms are dark - no light coming in from the window that looked out onto a shaft and nowhere near enough lighting in the room or bathroom. The AC unit was very loud, and the bathroom was very small with very little space for toiletries. The floors creek and the room is sparse overall... no extra pillows or linens, very little furniture, no rugs. And while there is a mini fridge, it wasn't working. My 80 yr old parents stayed in another room and parked their car across the street in the lot that is used by the hotel. The front desk made no effort to give any info about the parking lot beyond how to put it on the room and what the hotel's fee is per day. This being Mardi Gras, they should have known when the streets would close. As such, my parents stood around for 6 hours waiting to get their car out of the lot, with no luck. It's not like this hotel just opened... Mardi Gras is high season. Shame on the staff for not knowing more. And my mother had to HUSTLE right before 4p to get their car listed on our room so we could cover the parking fee for another night because they could not get out. Stressful and exhausting. There are so many easy opportunities here to make the rooms better. What a shame. We return to N.O. every Mardi Gras and we love the location, but we will not be staying at Old No 77 again.
