Property very run down. Had leather like chair in room that was full of bare almost ripped spots. Housekeeping knocking on our door at 9am while we were sleeping (and with do not disturb sign up) trying to rush us to check out of the room so she could clean it.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Brooklyn Downtown by IHG several times. The quality & service is declining. During this trip, the prior 3 star (business hotel level) has clearly declined. (1) no bath towels (small face towels) were available for two days, (2) pool was dirty & closed for entire trip, (3) cleaning service was poor. Was not expecting such a poor experience from Holiday Inn…

We were really disappointed with our stay here, especially considering the price (over $400 a night). Right from the start, the staff was not welcoming and we were given the wrong room key and accidentally walked into a room that was already occupied. The hotel itself feels very worn down and in need of updates. The pool area had broken chairs and a constantly wet floor, making it feel neglected. The ice machines on our floor didn’t work, and the lobby had several broken features that gave the whole place a run-down look. What made it more frustrating is that the hotel looks nothing like the photos online. For the price, we expected a much higher standard. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet expectations at all.

Should be a sold 4+ hotel but once the morning front & mngt staff leave… good luck to you. You and everyone there will need it. Least of your problems will be waiting 45++ mins for toilet paper to your room. LEAST if your problems. The runners (the staff that’s in full black) work on a 5-6 star Dubai level and I mean every single one of them and at any hour. Legit 5-6* hotel experience when u interact w them. So who ever trains , hires and manages that crew knows their stuff and is a pro. If this was my hotel I’d just get rid of front desk after morning staff done w their shift and use some semi automatic system to get the runners to know what u need etc. they only ruin and or destroy the guests experience, it becomes not only bad value for money but feels like hotel should be paying you to stay there, not other way around. It’s not normal.

Rooms were in bad condition, carpets were dirty and need replacing, furniture is very worn. Our particularly room was close to the two (slow) elevators that we could hear squeaking throughout the night. Appears like it was decent at one point but has let itself go. Area is very convenient but there are many hotels nearby that I wished we would have booked instead.

Some staffs are not approachable, rude and mean. Rooms need to keep up with their maintenance. There is a subway line underneath the hotel. Our room rattled and shook every few minutes through the night. The staff acknowledged the problem but they were not able to find a better room, so we checked out after the first night to find a better hotel.
