The water was extremely (unnecessarily) hot. For those who may not have encountered certain things before, we felt that they should have been explained at check-in. This includes the need to insert your room card to activate lights in the room and the elevator.

Awful Experience

Horrible staff and deceptive marketing practices. Charged us over $500/night for a room with a king size bed but actually only gave us a full and had the nerve to claim it was a “New York king size”. Staff was also extremely rude and dismissive. TV service was awful and channels sucked. Room was small and other guest’s children were allowed to run screaming around the halls all hours. We will never book another Hotel Riu after this experience.

The initial impression of this hotel is that it is well maintained. The lobby is clean, with many places to sit, rest rooms, a bar and small cafe. Check in was painless, except that i repeatedly had to request a receipt. I finally got it on the last day of our stay. The room was exactly as pictured on the web site. A somewhat see-through shower wall makes things a bit uncomfortable. We enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast was outstanding and the bell boys were extremely helpful. The biggest disappointment was that there was no ice machine in the building. We were told to go to the cafe for ice. Although there were three people staying in the room, they would only give us two small plastic cups of ice. Each time, I had to go to the front desk and ask them to for help to get the third glass of ice. This became extremely tedious. The location is perfect, most of the staff is courteous and hard-working, so if you can live without ice, this is a very nice hotel.

Second Riu hotel I have stayed in. Visited San Francisco in October. Arrived at Times Square with reception asking us to change rooms. Negotiated not paying the additional tax. Unsure if our room was better or downgraded, however it was spacious and everyday fresh towels & beds made. It was a suite, I had booked deluxe with two double beds as sharing with my mum 70 yrs but they said there was a sofa bed in the suite. I didn’t rate the sofa bed at all, not suitable for an adult so bunked in with my mum. Breakfast queues varied in the morning but we got seated swiftly everyday. Paid extra to extend our departure time enjoying another full day in New York.

Within a very short walking distance of Times Square and Broadway. Modern, clean facilities and room serviced daily, polite staff, incredible views from room (24th floor), extensive breakfast options which were well prepared and plentiful, although, can be busy and cramped at certain times of the morning. No tea/coffee facilities but the Grab and Go served nice coffee, drinks (alcoholic and non) and snacks.

Make sure that you bring your own blow dryer ! The one the hotel supplied was hard to use because it was attached to the wall !
