The shopping is okay never bothered with the gym . The staff lacked people skills except for our housekeeper . Also the rooms needed more TLC and the rooms description was extremely miss leading. I will never go back there again. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. I travel alot.

Hotel staffs refused to help keeping 1 pair of kid’s shoes and charged $3 (by cash, not credit card) for 1 bag regardless sizes. This is our 1st experience ever because we’ve never paid any hotels for help to keep baggages). Rooms are much older than shown in advertisements.

In my opinion it was false advertising. All that is negative in the reviews is 100% accurate. I will not be recommending for family, friends, and coworkers. All the pictures you see is not what you get. The staff is rude, the cleaning staff is sitting down mostly on their phones. We asked to look at better rooms and it was not offered. It seems that people live there. All is true for elevators not working. Do not go by the pictures, they are NOT updated.

Review for The Gallivant Hotel: My trip was planned last-minute, and with limited hotel availability, I ended up booking The Gallivant out of necessity rather than choice. A friend and I were visiting from out of town for the weekend and didn’t intend to spend much time in the room, so the compact size wasn’t a major issue. However, there were several inconveniences that added up during our stay. In my rush to secure a room, I overlooked the lack of basic amenities I usually look for—such as a fridge and microwave—which were not provided. On our first night, we discovered that the cable TV wasn’t working. The hotel did move us to another room the next day, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, other issues persisted. We encountered someone else on our floor also experiencing problems, which made us wonder about the overall guest experience. The ice machine was broken, and when we asked for ice, we were simply told it was unavailable and that we can get it from the restaurant next door. Additionally, the elevators were very slow; it appeared that only two of the four were functioning, which made getting to and from our floor frustratingly time-consuming. All in all, while the location may work in a pinch, the lack of basic amenities, maintenance issues, and overall service made the stay feel subpar. I wouldn’t choose this hotel again unless there were no other options.

I was charged resort fee although this property donhave any amenities for a resort. There's no swimming pool, no gym, no restaurants. How could they charged resort fee.The elevator is always running slow and sometimes doesn't work. The only thing i like is the bed. Very comfortable.

The hotel was in a very good area, but the room they gave me was dirty and hadn’t been cleaned before my arrival. There was also no coffee maker in the room, even though it was supposed to be included. In the end, the coffee maker didn’t even work, but I decided not to keep following up on that. I had to call five times before they finally changed my room to the second floor (actually the first floor). There were always dirty sheets left in front of the elevator. The cleaning staff were kind and helpful, but the front desk staff were not. When I asked them to clean the room, they only changed the towels and didn’t do a proper cleaning. Also the Ari conditioner didn’t work.

Lobby funiture is old, dirty, and broken. Al building needs re paint , new rugs,and the elevator there are three and one did not work. On the positive side our room was always clean and the staff was always very nice. Front desk excellent service.

Average: Some good points, some not so hot.

1. Upside. It is centrally located in the theatre district and Times Square, a block or so from a subway stop, has nice restaurants and pizza joints nearby, so if you want that New York hustle-bustle, you’re in the thick of it here. 2. Downside. A fire station is on the corner. No disrespect to our finest first responders, but you will find any time the engines roll—and roll they do—you’ll hear about it in your room no matter where you are in the hotel. 3. Downside. Do not stay on a low floor if you are there over the weekend. The street noise is endless. If you do, bring a white noise machine to cancel it out. 4. Downside. No phone to front desk in the room. It would have been good to have to complain to the front desk when a noisy guest was pounding—and I mean pounding!—on a door down the hall at 4 a.m. 5. Upside. Room was clean, shower got hot eventually. 6. Downside. Housekeeping left the unsightly service cart and the towel and sheet bundles out in the hallway all the time. 7. Downside. Main floor men’s bathroom water spouts kept falling out of their sockets. Bathroom was clean overall. 8. Upside. Bellman and Front Desk service was excellent—polite, friendly, professional. Overall, would I stay there again? Probably not. I’d pay up for a better hotel if one was available. This time, there wasn’t, so I compromised.

When we got to our room, we opened the door and there was someone asleep in the bed. Went to the front desk and the worker apologized saying that his “coworker must have made a mistake.” The rooms do not look like the pictures and the windows are dirty with no view. The rooms are also very humid and the AC barely works. Very small bathroom/shower space. None of the ice machines work and same thing with the vending machines. Only worth the money because of the location.

The room was clean and staff was nice but the building was very dated and the room was tiny. The bathroom door didnt open all the way as it hit the toilet. It did the job for a quick weekend to see a show on Broadway but will probably find somewhere else to stay next time.

We’ve stayed here several times. It’s convenient and good location. The elevator situation is always a bit of a pain, but for the price it’s a good place to be able to explore Manhattan from.

Though I "upgraded" from two double bedsd to a king bed with a bunk bead, I could not be happier with the overall location of the hotel. Amazingly quiet for a hotel that is opposite Times Square, and near so many important landmarks, including Carnegie Deli! A great glass of guiness is to be had just next door at a fine Irish pub. The staff at the front desk is efficient, courteous, and smart.

Staff did their best, but our first room had no thermostat or way to regulate temperatures; moved to a 2nd room with a noisy a/c just a couple of feet from the bed. Elevators inadequate, frustratingly slow. The place needs to be gutted.
