Spacious 2BR Norwich Cottage with seasonal pool

The spacious 2BR Red Cottage was built as a fully detached in-law suite to the Main House (separate listing "4BR Norwich Historic Home") located in historic Bean Hill, Norwich Town. Set on 3.5 acres of land, these properties provide privacy while leaving room for plenty of activities, including an in-ground covered pool (shared between both listings), a basketball hoop, soccer, and exploring the land. The porch at the red cottage faces away from the main house and provides plenty of privacy.

You will find plenty of yard space to enjoy nature, play sports, and bird watching. There is also a little pond and a little trail.

The property is overall very quiet because it is set back from the street, providing plenty of privacy. However, with the I-395 passing close by, you will have some traffic noise.

The property is less than a 5-minute walk to the Marriott hotel, an 8-minute drive to Mohegan Sun. A 30-minute drive to Mystic, CT, and about a 40-minute drive to Misquamicut beach in Rhode Island. The drive to Newport, RI is about an hour.

The covered in-ground pool is not heated. The pool is open end of May through the end of September, with the season opening and closing being weather-dependent. The pool area will heat up with the sun, but only so much on cooler days.

The best way to get around is by car

A high chair and pack-n-play are available upon request.

DOGS: We allow our guests to bring their dog(s) as long as they are fixed and house-trained, and friendly. This is out of courtesy for other guests who might be renting the main house. Guests are responsible for any damage dogs may cause, and urine stains inside the house will require an extra cleaning fee of $150. All dogs must be leashed while on the property! We do not allow cats.

This is a strictly non-smoking property. A cleaning fee of $250 will apply if guests smoke inside the house.

No parties in the sense of inviting guests beyond the ones that you booked the home for.

Impromptu Vacation

The house was as expected when we arrived. The neighbor house was occupied the first night and the renters were very nice. The pool was air temp which made it very enjoyable. The host responded to my questions quickly and we enjoyed our stay!

We had a great time. Our new puppy loved walking the grounds (on leash inside and out). Very private and close to all we wanted to see...seaport, restaurants, casinos. Loved our stay there. Thanks for everything.

Norwich, red cottage

We had an awesome stay at the red cottage. We didn’t use the pool, but looked like be fun on another trip. We travelled with our fur babies and the property was excellent for us to walk them around. We wouldn’t even known other renters in other homes nearby, everyone was respectful to themselves. Is close to both casinos. We got great coffee beans from Craftsman Cliffs Roasters. We saw shows at both casinos, and visited Mystic. Was a larger home then expected, great bedrooms, awesome kitchen and back deck. Love to visit again.

The cottage was nice and spacious. Although, the cottage is not equipped with central air conditioning. The two air conditioners in the bedrooms were not enough to cool down the living room, kitchen, and bathroom. We stayed with our dogs and they were constantly moving back and forth from the living room to the bedroom to fend off the heat.

So comfortable and clean!

We had a lovely stay, and we were thoughtfully taken care of! The pool is shared with the other VRBO rental on the property, so you may or may not have it to yourself depending on the other renters. We stayed on a couple really hot (88°+) days and the pool felt great!

It was a wonderful place to stay. I have allergies/ sensitivities and the house was so nice and clean. The kitchen was nice as we were able to cook a nice meal. We hope to come back and stay in the house again when we come to the area.

Hidden Gem

We had a great weekend staying at the Red Cottage. The location seems quiet and secluded but it was so quick and easy to get to anywhere we needed to go. The cottage was nicely updated and the perfect size for the 3 of us plus our 2 dogs! Looking forward to going again!! Thanks Ivonne!!

Long awaited getaway

We are a family of 4, kids are 7 and 9, and a 50lb labradoodle, so finding a place that would keep us all entertained was not an easy feat. Ivonne answered my endless questions, my kids loved swimming and exploring the yard, and the ping pong/airhockey table. The dog has never been so happy because he had such long walks with us. The house was equipped with cooking utensils and pots/pans, linens, and bath towels. It is not a brand new house, but it has so much charm. I would recommend bringing goggles for the pool if you are affected by chlorine, and lots of bug spray when outside. We did and had a wonderful time!

Lovely little cottage

We had a very pleasant time at this cottage, it was exactly what we needed for the week. The cottage itself was clean, with up to date modern decor and has all the basic amenities we needed for cooking, cleaning etc. Accessing cottage was easy (door has an electronic lock with code) and the location is easy to get to within 30 minutes of several area attractions. The grounds were very nice and the pool/swing set came in handy as it was very hot on a few days. The property manager (not the same person as the owner) even stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed and gifted us a $25 gift card to a local pizza place (highly recommend) which was a very welcome gesture. Overall would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Highly recommended!

The property was super clean and very spacious! The property manager was FANTASTIC and even left a surprise gift for us. I would love to stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone going to visit the casinos, as it is within driving distance of both.

Celebrate life-golf and a stop on the way to Boston

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves despite the uncooperative weather. Intense heat followed by rain. Ivonne is a terrific and accommodating host. The cottage is charming and provided our first outing since the pandemic began. We golfed at Lake of Isles at Foxwoods and enjoyed a public course ,Rivers Ridge,on a cloudy day, before the rains. We enjoyed, Ivonne’s recommendation of a fun food truck with delicious pizzas and salads. Unfortunately, the game at Dodd stadium was called because of weather. It truly was a lovely 3 nights! Thank you Ivonne.

Recommended !

Stayed at this property this past NYE weekend with my family of 4. This home is CLEAN , has all the necessities for cooking , showering, sleeping. All you need to bring is food if you plan on cooking . Sufficient heat , Sling TV, and board games available. There was also a larger home on the property but not sure if or how it would be rented but would be great for multiple families to stay on the same property. The pool was not open for this Winter season . The only thing I would point out is that the heater made loud noises in the room closest to the front door . The room at the rear of the house did not have that issue so if you are a light sleeper I would suggest you sleep at the farther room . Besides that I definitely recommend anyone stay here. Also the communication with the property owner, Ivonne, was very quick and efficient.
