Nice, clean hotel. Best location. Everything is in walking distance: museums, ferry, shopping. Public transportation is very good in Oslo. Airport express takes only 30 minutes to the Theater stop, and 7 minutes walking to the hotel from there. Very good breakfast with great variety, friendly staff.

Thon hotels = standardized modest luxury

Okay. Ugly building with only a light well view out. Small but adequate room. Good location. Parking was complicated and expensive. Staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was the standard Thon fare—designed to wow. I did appreciate the two dishes with lots of kale.

Solo Senior Traveler.

This was an amazing week in a well-located hotel. The food was incredible. Service excellent. Room very big with warm bathroom tiles, fridge, great internet. Most of all the staff was superb. The hotel layout was a little complex in room assignment. I had a beautiful stay and would definitely recommend this Thon Hotel Cecil.

The offering of a light evening meal was a helpful and nice touch. I took advantage of it 2 out of the 3 nights. The staff were very helpful and available to answer questions. The breakfast offerings were great.

Great hotel, location, great staff. Only difficult thing is getting to the room, they have a new section and old section. have to take two elevetators and walk in between seems like an inconvenience.

the only disadvantage of this hotel were the wooden gutters found on the floor. it makes rolling the luggages very difficult.

We loved our stay at Thon Hotel in Oslo. It’s just a 10-minute walk from the central train station, but tucked away enough to feel peaceful and calm. The location is ideal—just a few minutes from Aker Brygge, where you’ll find tons of restaurants, bars, and beautiful harbor views. It was the perfect base for exploring the city. From morning walks along the waterfront to enjoying Oslo’s modern art, food, and even a quick fjord dip—it was all super accessible. The room was stylish, quiet, and comfortable—everything we needed after a day out and about. There was some construction on our floor during the stay and one of the elevators was out, but it wasn’t a major inconvenience. Would absolutely stay here again!
