This was my worst experience of my stay in new zealand.
I had believed that i would have cooking facilities in my cabin.
I was obviously mistaken as there was only the shared kitchen etc.
My room was very spartan.
There were no bedside cupboards or lights - just 2 upturned fruit crates.
The bedding was basically clean but very tired.
The pillows were badly stained and didnt smell too good so i had to wrap a towel around them before lying on them.
There was just one double plug socket in the room which didnt work.
There was one socket in the bathroom (high up on the wall).
It worked intermittently so i managed to get a bit of charge into my mobile.
There were no chairs or table in the room but there was a metal table and 2 chairs outside (a bit rusty and dirty).
There was an oil filled radiator in the corner of the room (very rusty and dirty).
The bathroom was clean.
The shower wss clean and the water was hot.
The carpet was old, grubby and stained.
All in all, it wasnt a good experience.
I had paid approx 175 dollars for the 1 night and was glad to leave.
The room was not clean. Huge stains in the sheets, either blood or semen. Bed felt really dirty. We bought our own linnen to be able to sleep. The shower, toilet and kitchen were fine. The sink however was dirty as hell. Would not recommend staying here.
Broken shower and pipe under sink.no bathrm amenities no milk dirty cups and no cutlery only bits.worse place my mokos and I have ever stayed in.complained to owner,he didn't care.
Funky little spot with lots of character! 15 minute walk to intercity bus and ferry

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Room was what we expected for the low price that we paid but was for we need it ,a bed for a midnight arrival ,with tea coffee and toast supply. It is going under renovation and the staff helpfull and friendly.
Quite a shock to the system when we arrived. The whole place was shabby and felt unclean. The sink leaked in the bathroom, although Hutiner tried his best to fix it, it still leaked..The 'hot' tub was cold and I wouldn't have used it had it been hot, as it also was old and unwelcoming. The photos on the website make the place look so much better than it is. The whole place was dirty, tired and old. My recommedation would be to stay somewhere else.
The welcoming staff was great. Nothing was a problem. Good location, however the property could do with some TLC.

Great wee place, about what you’d expect for a cost effective hostel. They were really helpful considering I got off the ferry at midnight.
Great price, happy as! 😊
As this accommodation was inexpensive we were pleasantly surprised by our nice room and the breakfast being included. We would recommend dinner at The Crow tavern.
