The staff seemed overwhelmed and tired. They had no AC as it had been out since June (an entire month) and were using giant fans to try to keep things cool. The pool was dirty and the parking lot was not secure.

This hotel was either brand new or had an extensive recent remodel. It was very nice, inside and out. The only issue was that the new paint on the door jam almost prevented us from leaving...lol

We stayed here for 4 nights. There is no AC in any common areas. It's very uncomfortable this time of year. Apparently, this has been an issues for weeks. The free breakfast was not good. Even the refrigerator items were room temperature. Our neighbors ended up fighting and waking us up at 0345. (I know this isn't the properties fault) They tried to charge my cc twice. It took a while, standing in the hot lobby, to get it corrected. The need was comfortable, the comforter was dirty, the pillows are not comfortable. We were close to shopping and walked there several times. They also charge $22 a day for parking. The parking lot is fenced and you use your room key to enter. For the price, there are way better places to stay.

My family and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh-South Side from July 25 to July 27, and unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we've had. I booked this stay weeks in advance, reserving two rooms with a specific request that they be adjacent. A necessity since we were traveling with kids. I even called the day before arrival to confirm that the rooms would be next to each other and to request a pack and play/crib for one of the rooms. From the moment we arrived, I had a bad feeling. The lobby had no air conditioning, in late July, during a heatwave, with temperatures in the 90s. I asked immediately if the rest of the building had A/C and was reassured that only the lobby and hallways were affected. This, of course, also meant no A/C in the pool area or the breakfast dining area, which made both spaces uncomfortable to use during our stay. At check-in, I asked again if the rooms were adjacent. I was told yes, and proceeded to check in, handing over my ID and credit card. Once we got up to the fifth floor, we discovered that the rooms were NOT next to each other they weren’t even across from each other but down the hall on opposite sides. I tried calling the front desk from the room, only to discover the phone was so old it was missing buttons and had no labels, so I had to go all the way back down to the hot lobby. I spoke with the same woman who checked us in and she now told me I never booked adjacent rooms despite her…….

Our room appeared clean but there was hair in the shower and found a pair of ear rings on the floor. Also, if I am paying to stay at a hotel, why do I also have to pay $22 to park my car. I am already paying hundreds of dollars to stay.

Weird check in, otherwise good stay

We parked in the lot and had to roll our luggage up the parking lot sidewalk ramp to the front door. The hotel lobby has no air conditioning, first of all, and I’ll note, I didn’t see the elevator. Once checked in, the staff member told us to use our key card and go back outside and around to get to the back door and then to the elevator. We rolled our luggage and stroller down a narrow ramp back to the parking lot, used the keycard, and took the elevator from the 1st floor. Keep that in mind. Weird, but whatever. Later, we took the elevator down to the lobby (2nd) floor and I saw the checkin desk right there. Why did she tell us to go outside and around? Why didn’t she show us the elevator behind her? Otherwise, great room, clean, good breakfast, really nice breakfast staff. This place is also by Carson street which is terrible right now, so don’t go over there.
