Island life

Great place to unplug and wash off some of the monotony life. Exploring the island is a great retreat for those that truly want to "unplug" This house is modern and has neat features such as steam shower and sauna. The 2nd bedroom could use repairs from water damage the shower has caused. Hopefully that will be taken care of in the near future. All in all we spent very little time inside and the stay was still A+ Its clean, its a straight shot from the dock and the covered porch ties everything together! Cant wait to book again for 2025

Another great stay

Fabulous location right on the beach. A small glitch with check in, but I think that will be improved in the future. A deep clean of drawers and cabinets would be really helpful, but overall lots of great amenities and a wonderful place to relax and enjoy beautiful weather, abundant wildlife and gorgeous sunsets.

Amazing stay!

We had an amazing stay at this beachfront home! Being just a few steps from the beach was amazing for morning coffee, days on the beach, and beautiful sunsets from the front deck and windows. We would certainly stay here again! A couple things that could be improved would be to upgrade the Hughes Net internet to Starlink for visitors who need more reliable internet, however, cell phone service and hotspots seemed to work fine when the sattelite was not working great. Also, it would have been helpful to have some guides for the high end appliances that took us a few minutes to figure out. Overall, a pretty perfect stay!

Leaves a lot to be desired

While the location is lovely, the home needs some attention. What makes me sad is that it appears some of these concerns have been raised by other guests in the past and still haven't been addressed, which means the owner is only interested in a quick buck and not customer satisfaction or retention. The owner was very responsive until I shared my concerns, now he has gone radio silent after two attempts to discuss with him. I shared about the mold in the ice maker, the broken amenities (coffee pot, master shower was unusable, the fridge leaked water on the floor, the garbage disposer didn't work until my husband got under the sink and fixed, the tv in the guest room and the microwave) and then shared about the missing items (kitchen towels, dishwashing detergent, instructions on how to use the convection stovetop and connect to Wifi, beach chairs and kayak). For the price, this home is just not up to par and hopefully this review keeps someone from renting so the owner will be forced to fix some of these issues.

Not fit to rent

Had to call the owner to get instructions to work the German made stove and oven. Found the dish TV connection broken. Internet very intermittent (difficult to stream any shows). Coffee maker broken. Shower flooded bedroom floor which we had to clean up. Thank goodness for the folks on the island who helped us. DON'T RENT THIS PROPERTY!!

Very LITTLE of what was expected was true

From the process of renting a golf cart (as recommended by the listing), to the cleanliness, to the amenities - so much was different than the listing. First of all you can't rent a cart since the sand is too deep within 50 yards of the house - and the cart provider admitted his carts were not usable. Essentially we ended up walking everywhere (including taking our week of groceries/supplies/bags from the boat to the house - needless to say 700 yards is a long way carrying that much). Basic items like a K-cup coffee maker or fridge/icemaker were not provided. Also to only provide 4 coffee cups, 4 plates - meant we were forced to use paper products. A mini fridge (for a weeks worth of food since there are no restaurants on the island) without ice maker was provided, but the area for the actual full sized fridge was empty - like someone made the decision to downgrade the fridge to the mini-variety. The beach chairs and kayak were missing from a storm that had come weeks before - would have been good to know that ahead of time. the shelves and pantry were not clean, and only one TV was barely in service due to the intermittent wifi. If even 20% of these problems were disclosed properly we would NOT have selected this place - when you consider paying $3K+, you expect basics like beach chairs and wifi/TV service let alone a normal sized fridge that has an icemaker built in. Oh yeah a repairman showed up unannounced! Very bad, very bad - $200 credit was offered - really?

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. I spent my days in the hammock under the deck reading my book-- my evenings snorkeling for "tresure" the home is updated and emaculate!! Showers here are amazing and the sauna is a nice finishing touch. I highly recommend booking here-- just be aware this is the place to escape and unwind- no shops no cars or "touristy stuff' - just you and nature. Book your golf carts 6mo in advance-- have Evan deliver your groceries ($$ well spent) and let Brett know your arrival time and dock # for seamless arrival and departure. This owner is extremely responsive- I kinda felt like we were bridging being annoying-- he responded each time w/helpful information and tid bits -- we really appreciated his patience w/us. Bring a battery powered black light to hunt scorpions-- snorkeling gear and a whole lot of stress to let the salty air dissolve and take away. The locals are super friendly and abundantly helpful. The home has kayaks, chairs, hammock and umbrellas covered.(as of 2023) Tysm for opening your home up to us! Its beautiful can't wait for next year!!

No disclosure of Red Tide and dead fish

I spoke to the host multiple times leading up the stay and no mention of Red Tide and dead fish on the shore in front of the rental. Contacted VRBO numerous times, was told they would review, call us back and they never did. Ended up disputing with the credit card company. Spent a significant amount of money rearranging our vacation on the spur of the moment. This may lead to further actions.

Sisters trip

The location on the beach is awesome! Just what we were looking for. Sunsets were amazing! We did have a few problems. The windows were very dirty. We cleaned them so you could see the amazing few from inside. We had ants by the shower that WE had to spray for there was spray in the house. That problem needs to be taken care of. The shower in the master bedroom did over flow onto the floor and we had to clean that up. Which was not fun on our first night there. Someone did come and fix it the next day. This looks like it is not the first time for this to happen. The floor in front of the showers is getting soft and the flooring is coming off because it is not tile. We did not have any A/C for most of the stay. The owner did compensate us for that. There are two microwaves in the house and neither of them work. They need to get some measuring spoons and cups. More plates and bowls would be good also. You have to cook 3 meals a day in the house so that way you would have plenty if some are dirty. Cookie sheets would be handy as well. It would be nice to have 4 chairs or loungers to sit by the beach. They have 2 and one is broken. There are so many shells to pick from. Having the groceries delivered was really nice. LGI is a great place to visit. We met some local people that were really nice. Brett gave us a nice island tour.

View great right at the Gulf. But...

Needs loving tender care from owner! Missing the creature comforts. Kitchen cabinets need organization and cleaning. Appliances while high end, did not work i.e. microwave. Water in master shower overflowed due to clogged drain one of the last couple of days we were there. Floors in front of each shower floor is warpped.

Beautiful views and state of the art luxury

We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home with incredible views and high end conveniences. The views from the front porch and the living room were amazing. On the coldest day in Florida in eleven years we were able to enjoy the waves crashing watching them from the large floor to ceiling windows. May want to stay for a longer period in the future and owner was very accommodating with that possibility as we will need higher speed internet to work. Highly recommend this property.

Amazing location and beautiful home

We live in suburban florida and wanted an escape and that’s what we got. We enjoyed the perfect sand front location of this home and all the amenities were excellent especially for a rental property. I had confusion on the first night with the stove and the owner was so responsive and quick. We had it all figured out in a few minutes. We will definitely stay here again!!!

HEAVENLY!

I spent a week in March at this beautiful home right on the ocean. Sunsets on the front porch were a real highlight. Walking on the beach, enjoying the eagles, herons and osprey, and just relaxing were so good for my soul. It took me a little while to figure out how to use the appliances, lights and TV. I would have appreciated a booklet or manual of some sort to explain all of this as well as information such as wifi. But when I reached out to Armando he was very helpful and we figured out the important things together. The kitchen was fairly well-stocked. The only additions I would recommend would be a pyrex measuring cup and a nice coffee mug or two. The plates and glasses were all lovely and the pots and pans were quite adequate. The bed was comfortable and the interior decor was gorgeous! Clean and modern with pops of color. Overall this was one of my most relaxing and lovely vacations ever and I hope to be back!

Long Weekend Getaway

I never knew that a place like this existed in the US. This is the most peaceful and relaxing area I've ever been. If you are looking for laid back, peaceful, non-commercialized vacation then this is the spot. The house could not be in a better location on the island. The house has great amenities. It has a sauna, steam room and top end appliances. The sunsets are amazing to view from the porch. While you are laying in bed you can hear the roar of the ocean making for an incredible nights sleep. At first we were a little intimidated being on an island that you take a water taxi to that has no shopping or stores, but Armando did a great job of explaining how to get there and what you will need. We did use his golf cart for one day to tour the island but that is all we needed. The rest of the time was spent on the back porch, on the beach or enjoying the beautiful house. Thanks for the amazing experience and we will be back.

A Peaceful Retreat

This is our second time staying at Armando's home on Little Gasparilla. We had originally planned to have this be a couples retreat/get away, like we had last time, but had a last minute change with our sitters availability and ended up taking our 2 and 4 year old daughters with us. While we were disappointed to not have the alone time, we did work to make the most of our time together as a family. Our kids enjoyed the TV and a few shows on Netflix from time to time, but mostly just played out on the beach, collecting sea shells, playing in the tide pools, playing in the sand, and enjoying the hammock that is now installed under the house. We also rented paddle boards from Hooked on SUP but were not able to take them out much due to the wind. The owners have provided even more tools in the kitchen to make our stay even more enjoyable. The beds and pillows are very comfortable, and the steam shower and sauna are added perks to renting this lovely home. The views and ocean sounds cannot be beat and we hope to enjoy many more stays over the years in this beautiful home. Thank you again!

Sat on the deck, listening to the waves, unique property, take the adventure!

We booked this a week out for our 10 year anniversary. We were looking for something RIGHT on the beach! This did not disappoint! At first you read you can only access this little island by boat and you are like "what?" but it was simple! Armando was in touch with everything with me. 3 nights was perfect, we could of done 4 and been good too. We choose it because of the funky decor, we loved the pop of colors throughout! Yes, it has a steam room in the shower and a separate sauna. Just like Armando said there was a grocery store right before we parked our car. Their grocery store is called Publix, you do have to plan out your menu, make a grocery list. Yes, they have all the electronics you need, names I don't know but we figured it out. We didn't use the grill since it was gas we would have to bring charcoal. ok, so after you get the groceries you turn into Eldred's Marina, go into the little bait shop and pay cash for parking. So bring a lot of cash for tips, parking, water taxi, etc. work with cash! Armando gives you all the numbers you need. Call asap after booking the place to make a rsv for the water taxi. So we had our luggage, carry on and then groceries. If you think you have enough to drink bring more! There are NO ROADS no stores on the Island. You have pay to have someone go get you groceries but plan ahead so you have everything the first time. So you pay the lady in the bait shop the parking fee then you unload your bags, park the car, and wait for the water taxi. Local guy, average type boat picks you up and the dock and like 10 minutes or less you are at the pier. It is so cool, island only accessible by boat. It was so peaceful. This Concierge Bret picked us up. Call him like the day before you are coming in and again that morning. I think I woke him up when I called so I called again at the dock. Everyone uses a golf cart. We didn't rent one. You can walk just fine. We were looking for a place to just chill, thought we are in our house in Chicago and it is getting cold why not be in a house on the beach in the warmth! House has one neighbor right next door otherwise so quiet, only like 50+/- live on the island. Just sat on porch and watched the wildlife and waves. Call the One Eyed Willie guy, look him up on FB, he rented us kayaks on the channel side and we saw MANATEES! The coolest. Walked the beach. Please NOTE: No local channels and grab BUG SPRAY. Owner should supply- my only negative
