Talbot house is actually museum ,the real history needs to be seen! The rooms are comfortable, clean, the staff extremely kind and helpful
Would recommend specifically to families with children to learn our history
Everything about this stay was absolutely perfect, from the way we were greeted at the front door, the wonderful welcomers and the opportunity to stay in what is a museum.
It was a humbling enjoyable stay and we will definitely be returning next year x
A living piece of history and what a fabulous experience to be able to stay and be part of history. For anyone exploring WW1 history this is a must - you are staying in part of it. The hotel is run by wardens who are so accommodating. Long may this run so others can experience this very touching part of history
This hotel is truly beyond compare—you can even stay in the exact rooms once occupied by famous figures! The hosts are incredibly warm and go out of their way to help you with anything you need. On top of that, the entire place is steeped in legendary stories. Highly recommended!
Talbot house was a rest home for allied military members in WW 1. History lives here. Extensive walled gardens with large trees, flower beds & walkways. Small museum on site. Mix of volunteers and paid staff look after you. Close to Menin Gate & Canada's Brooding Soldier. Very cool spot to have stayed at and Poperinge is a lovely town.
Talbot House was amazing, from the friendly staff to the upgraded rooms which were comfortable and yet maintained the spirit of this special place. Thank you for an excellent stay.
Amazing experience hosted by volunteer wardens who could not have done more to make me feel welcome. Perfect location, bike storage, beautiful garden, and a museum and house tours to enjoy too. An amazing stay in a historic gem.
The welcome from wardens Marilyn and Larry was fantastic, they have a wealth of knowledge and great interest in the house and history of the area. We enjoyed our chats with them.
The room was very clean and comfortable. Lovely to have information about the house in the room for us to read at our leisure.
I had a wonderful stay here. The property has a deeply fascinating history, and learning about it added so much meaning to the experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and supportive, they truly made me feel welcome. I really enjoyed my time here, and the city itself is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend!
Can’t begin to describe what a great stay this is. A real experience, if you are doing the battlefields, then staying or visiting here is a must. Comfy beds, great facilities and good breakfast. Loft chapel is probably the nicest chapel or church I have ever seen mainly because of the emotion involved. Thoroughly recommend.
Talbot House has a history that is so important and our stay had extra meaning just for that reason. We really enjoyed chatting with other guests, too. The bathroom facilities were immaculate and the beds were very comfortable. It was truly like visiting a 'home'. I would recommend to everyone!
A little corner of England but on the continent. This is a unique property that almost feels like a privilege to stay in given the history and how it has been preserved. After a week on the continent drinking coffee, it was a massive relief to get a nice pot of tea served with a cup and saucer!!
We had a wonderful stay at the Talbot House and will definitely stay there again when we return. It is an historic place that has been well preserved. I highly recommend it.
