Quaint

The house is very quaint. You are surrounded by sheep, rabbits and sweeping views. Though the house looks old it is up to date inside. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come back to enjoy the peace. If you’re lucky, Alan the crofter will come by and talk with you about his life farming sheep and raising Birder Collies.

Wonderful place to enjoy your holiday

This was our first time in Scotland and we learned really quick how different the roads are. Thanks to being able to stay in this location we were able to do so all the hikes we planned to do.The house is super spacious, a rarely in the UK. The surroundings are so peaceful and the view is magnificent. If you are a lover of nature, you will not be disappointed.

Lovely stay

The home is in a beautiful area of the Scottish Highlands. I felt we got to experience a small piece of what it would be like to live in such a beautiful area. So many beautiful areas to walk nearby. The place itself was perfect, cozy and had everything we needed. And the owner is very nice and communicative.

A peaceful stay in Skye

We very much enjoyed staying at Lorraine's place. The cottage is well maintained. There was even a hand written note when we arrived. We didn't get his name, but a nice shepherd minds his sheeps in the area, with whom whe learned about farming and croft life. name name but was very lovely.

Welcoming and part of the real Isle of Skye

the accommodation is spacious and perfect for home cooked foods if you want to dine at home after a long day exploring the Isles. a walk early morning to the Look out Bothy to see the sun rise with my dog is one of our favourite things. a short drive takes you to the Quiraing hills.perfect sunsets & if you lucky the northern lights at Duntulm which is walking distance or a very short drive are amongst the best places to see these from. and the local farmer Alan. well Alan, is a great friend to acquaint, always cheerful as are his amazing working Collie sheep dogs. thank you Lorraine a great host to a wonderful part of Skye. we will return to this happy place :)

Amazing location

Lovely house to stay in with friends. Really enjoyed sitting in front of the fire in the evening. Host was very accommodating when we needed supplies. Our friends commented on the noise from the water heater in their bedroom and the water flow in the shower is quite weak. Apart from that, all good.

Hogmanay at the Top of Skye

My family of four (young adult children) thoroughly enjoyed spending our New Year in Willie McLeod’s cottage. It is a charming and warm home from which to venture out on Skye. The cottage is well equipped and the kitchen ready for basic cooking. We loved it and would come back in anytime!

A beautiful croft house, in a spectacular location.

The croft house was idyllic, beautifully renovated and decorated with all amenities one could want. It makes a perfect home from home and base for exploring the north of the island. The host obviously cares very much about her guests and this is reflected in the house itself.

Unique stay in remote Skye

Our family of 4 - with 2 kids ages 12 and 11 - really enjoyed staying here for 2 nights. The scenery was amazing and the cows, sheep and rabbits surrounding the house were entertaining. You definitely need to be comfortable driving some single track road though! Lorraine was great to communicate with and the house was spotless and very comfortable. Loved our stay!

A cozy and beautiful cottage, the host is very kind and the place around stunning. The neighbours are rabbits and sheeps, so this is a very quiet place, but you can go everywhere on the island so this is a perfect spot to stay.

We made a very last minute booking and this was one of the only properties still available, it’s a little remote, but it was a lovely retreat at the end of the day. Very quiet and cozy and the views are incredible. I would definitely stay here again.

Awesome place!

We loved it. The best was looking out and seeing the sheep and bunnies. I'm not sure why the previous reviewer had an issue with hot water/temp. We did not experience that at all. The shower was really warm and had great water pressure. The radiators worked very well too. The 3 bedrooms were great for us. Lorraine left us a sweet note and was lovely to deal with by direct message. Recommend getting groceries in portree, if possible, but Uig and Staffin had small stores too.

Restorative stay

Our family enjoyed 2 nights on Skye which were a much needed rest during our trip exploring Scotland. The space was warm, clean and cozy. We played games watched movies and cooked meals. Generally just slowing down for a full day. It was lovely, thank you Lorraine.

So peaceful and wonderful.

The house was amazing and the views were breathtaking. Plus it was very quiet and peaceful. Our daughter absolutely loved having the room at the top of the stair overlooking the sheep pasture. Got to watch the sheep dogs move the sheep and we got a chance to chat with the shepherd who was very friendly. Our host was wonderful and she always responded very quick to any of our questions. This is an absolute must accommodation if you are visiting the northern end of the Isle of Skye.

Perfect!

I don't think I could say enough about how delightful our stay at "Willie McLeod's House" was. It was by the far the nicest place we stayed. That was partly because the location is stunning, but also the house is beautiful! It's been perfectly remodeled, it's spacious and comfortable, very peaceful, and the artwork on the wall was my probably my favorite- beautiful just like the area surrounding it! Also, the host is a lovely woman and her friendly farmer neighbor was fun to talk with! One thing to mention- come prepared with food and provisions and make note that Sundays things aren't open sometimes- it takes awhile to get to the nearest restaurant, especially, I assume, during the warmer months- the roads are crowded with sheep and tourists. This place is off the beaten path though- so it's very peaceful. It's also close to an amazing walk to the coast- our favorite time in Scotland was spent in this house! We should have booked it for longer:-)
