Relatively cheap no-frills motel, near airport

This is a motel. Kind of noisy, not super cosy, but clean and affordable, near the airport and not far from the Blue Lagoon. We spent our last night in Iceland here. It was fine.

Stay at Vogar Hotel

The hotel is an older hotel with some improvements made to the rooms. Rooms were spacious and clean. Was difficult to get to and located in a small community between the airport and Reykjavík with minimal services in the community, only one restaurant. Breakfast was not included with the room charge. Needed to get transportation twice to stay there but front desk staff very helpful with arrangements for that.

This is a dorm during the school year that serves as a hotel in the summer. My room had a private bath, and was small but comfortable. The staff were very friendly. It was convenient to downtown Akureyri, and also very close to a lovely botanical garden. It was perfect for what I needed. I did not pay extra for the buffet breakfast. The bed was more comfortable than other dorm accommodations I have stayed in. It was quiet and peaceful.

Convenient location to the airport. Room was big. Bathroom was clean but not super big. Staff was great at check in and check out. More an ordinary motel but the convenience and price made it a great find. Would definitely recommend.

The toilet wasn’t flushed indicating poor maid service. There was a rain jacket and spandex left in a drawer. The place smelled of cigarette smoke. The whole experience was gross. I stayed out and about until I had to come back just to sleep. I didn’t want to be anywhere around that place.

Hotel Vogar works for us!

Comfortable older hotel, with outside entrances to most rooms. Blackout curtains for summer nights, great Scandinavian style smorgasbord breakfast 7:30-9 am. Internet works great. 10 miles from Blue Lagoon, also close to Keflavik Airport Good value!
