Out of the 3 places we stayed This was the worst. Upon entering the room with my 2 toddler kids, I received a phone from the front desk staff. The tone was accusatory asking, “what the heck we were doing up there?” Honestly, I had no idea what he was talking about. Rather than asking if my kids were making noise (which they were not as they were lying in bed) we weee accused of making noise. We could hear the noise in the background. The problem is that the hard wood floors reverberate. The person’s kid making noise was probably just playing. The design is very European with minimalist style, no storage space, and as mentioned there is no insulation in the floor. The breakfast area has limited seating to eat. While it would not have been terrible the rude behavior of the one particular staff (who happened to be laying down on a couch when I checked in around 8 pm) ensured that this is a place I would never recommend to anyone or ever stay at again. I am sure barring other circumstances it would not have been so terrible. Not a place to bring kids, for sure.

There were several asian lady beatle bugs (they look like lady bugs) all over the room so we moved to a different room and it was the same problem just less of them. The sheets were not that clean crisp sheet, I wondered if they were really clean and the mattress was extremely thin.

It’s a disappointment! Refrigerator didn’t work. Controls on back, outside of unit. Had to pull the entire unit away from wall. I ask for a replacement and they did. No microwave or ice bucket, blinds broken and could not open them. One elevator broken all weekend. Terrible breakfast. No outdoor trash cans in rear or sides of building. Positives…large room and bath, staff was helpful and friendly. Property was good. Location was good also, near restaurants and 95.

The air conditioning wall control didn’t work, the unit rattled constantly, only one elevator was working, couldn’t get the tv working and when asking for help, no body responded. The breakfast selection was skimpy and pancake machine wasn’t working. Very disappointed with our stay. Will not use Tru, especially this one, ever again when traveling.

I had a wonderful experience at Tru by Hilton Ashland. The hotel is modern, clean, and well-maintained, with a fun and vibrant atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in and our entire stay smooth and pleasant. I especially appreciated the complimentary breakfast and the game room, which added a nice touch of relaxation. The location is super convenient—right off I-95 and close to Kings Dominion and local attractions. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable stay in the Ashland area!
