Our stay at Barmels Villa was very disappointing and stressful from beginning to end. Communication was poor from the start. We attempted to contact the staff multiple times before arrival but received no response. Check-in was especially difficult because we did not receive any instructions until the day we arrived. We had to call the number listed on Orbitz, where a cleaning staff member answered and helped us access the property. Later, staff from Las Palmas Hotel contacted the owner so we could finally receive the code to enter the room. When we entered the villa, it was not properly prepared. The air conditioner did not work, and although the weather was manageable, this is still unacceptable. Basic amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were not provided. There were four guests, but only three towels were available. Several maintenance issues made the stay uncomfortable and unsafe. Two window blinds were stuck halfway open, leaving no privacy. Ceiling lights were not working, and there was no proper supply of toilet paper, only a partially used roll. We also found ants in the room. Most concerning was the unsafe bunk bed. The ladder was missing screws and was rusted. On the first night, one of the children was injured and scratched her thigh badly enough to bleed. We attempted to contact the owner immediately but received no response. We reached out to Orbitz for assistance, but they were unable to get a response from the property either.

Extremely confusing to check in. This is a short term rental, so it does not have any reception area. No filtered water was provided and there was nowhere in walking distance to buy any water. No soaps in the condo. There was zero communication from the owner. If the cleaning lady didn’t help us out, not sure we would’ve found the place. There was zero communication from the owner

The room was clean. The property itself is very dated. It felt like we were in a retirement place for people over 65. Beach bar next-door was the only restaurant in the area open on a Sunday was not very good. At the time of our visit, the sargassum seaweed was all over all the beaches so they stunk from the rotting sargassum . They check-in is not very good as they have no central office. A caretaker of the building took care of our check-in. Language was a bit of a barrier. Don’t count on early check-in. Our particular room had a few maintenance issues as well.

Hotels.com never said anything about it not being a hotel that doesn’t have a front desk so you can check in easily when you get in. Didn’t say anything about that until I saw in the email the next morning you need 24 hr in advance to get code for lock box key and did not even give me the correct contact info to get ahold of the owner. It ended up working out but the communication was horrible and I wasn’t sure if we actually had a confirmed place to stay. I only figured it out by searching the internet for the correct what’s app number of the host of the place and they didn’t get back to me until 3 hours before check in. Needless to say it was stressful. Even hotels.com couldn’t get ahold of anyone for us and said they could only help us if the owner didn’t get in touch with us one hour before we were to check in. FYI The beach in front is not the one in the picture. It is the beach next door.

Room was ok but no remote for tv. Running out of toilet paper and request for facecloth and fresh towels never answered. Resort caters to cruise ships so the bar and services close at 4:00pm. Rooms are adjacente to resort but not part of it. Pools are old and no services around them for food toilets or sinks that are falling apart. Private beach is not maintained no cleaning or chairs unless you go next door. No food or drink options after 4pm. Nothing in walking distance. TV in tje room did not have a remote. Breakfast was advertised as made to order but not the case at all far from it or pictures on Expedia site. We left as well as 2 other couples next to us the next day because we could not get any supplies in walking distance. We moved and the resort refused to provide any refunds for the mistepresentation and Expedia could not help get us a refund. Not what we expected at all!

The room had a really bad smell. The place doesn't look anything like it is advertised. They had to have taken them several years ago. There is garbage everywhere, the pool was unusable. The "private beach" was dirty and not white sands. You use Los Palmas next door. The wood on the pathway is decrepit, has holes everywhere in it. The "cooked to order" breakfast is not cooked to order, they bring everyone the same food. The door is a patio door that you lock, on a shared patio for 3 other rooms. You are not close to any amenities. We stayed one night and moved, the manager wouldn't even think about giving a refund. She said we got the room in the pictures. That was the only think that looked the same as pictures.
