We reserved a quadruple comfort room which the expedia website shows has two bedrooms, bathroom, a living room and air conditioning. When we arrived our room had no living room and no air conditioning. According to the expedia website this room would fall into the quadruple economy listing. The hotel did not have any other quadruple rooms available and said they would not refund the difference in price from the comfort to economy level. On the second night they did offer to move us to another room but it had an inoperable toilet which would make it difficult with the other two people with them having to walk around our bed to get to the other bathroom. We are still trying to get the difference in room price back because expedia wants the hotel to refund and the hotel says expedia should not have listed it that way. We do not recommend this hotel at all as they expect you to pay for what you do not receive and don’t care because you have left the hotel already. Stay away and stay somewhere else. Breakfast was good though.

The good: Perfect location. Clean. Private parking lot, An included nice, fresh breakfast in a room with a great view. The bad: The hotel has the potential of being fabulous. The location is perfect, however the large rooms and spacious communal spaces are old, worn, stale and in desperate need of a facelift. Room: Our linens where different shades of tan from being used and bleached so often. One of the window curtains was ripped and hanging off the hanger. The 2 satin armchairs were stained. Water stained and worn bed-side tables and headboard. To empty the tub, it required my sticking my finger in the drain pipe to retrieve the rubber stop which was broken off the drain cover. No USB outlets to charge phones.

The hotel is located in the center of beautiful Rothenburg, within walking distance to everything you need to see in Rothenburg. The room is spacious and the breakfast is very good.

The hotel is close to the main square and has parking within a block away. Our room was large and comfortable with a nice view of the valley. Their breakfast was good and included scrambled eggs. We would stay again on future visits.

Excellent location, 5 minute walk to the train station, 5 minute walk up the shopping Street to the main/historic square, and wonderful restaurants of all variety nearby. The breakfast is good (not excellent).

Great location to visit Rothenburg. Old hotel obviously but clean and a great view from the breakfast room. Breakfast is basic fare but covers the bases. Seems short staffed no one at reception when we arrived or checked out but staff are very pleasant

Fantastischer Aufenthalt in Rothenburg

Den Aufenthalt im Hotel Goldener Hirsch war wieder excellent. Der Empfang wart sehr herzlich und meine Fragen wurden kompetent beantwortet. Sogar meine Insulinspritze durfte ich im Kühlschrank des Hotels lagern damit diese nicht kaputt ging. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist der Hammer, es bietet eine grosse Auswahl. Ein reservierter Parkplatz bietet das Hotel ebenfalls an, was in Rothenburg sehr angenehm ist. Es war einfach schön bis zum Auschecken, was auch sehr freundlichüber die Bühne ging. Das Personal war ganz allgemein einfach freundlich, fröhlich und sehr zuvorkommend. Ich werde dieses Hotel bei einem nächsten Besuch sehr gerne wieder buchen. Ein ganz herzliches Dankeschön an den Goldenen Hirschen.

My husband and I, along with our kids ages 16 & 18, stayed at the hotel for one night during our road trip through Germany in May 2023. It’s been almost 2 years now and our family still talks about this hotel. We arrived later than expected but the staff were fantastic. They gave us a section right off of the kitchen. We absolutely LOVED it. We cannot wait to return and will be requesting the same sleeping quarters.
