An hotel with an exceptional view
Probably the best hotel to stay in on Bute, but the hotel needs a lot of investment to bring it back to its former glory. That said, the bed was very comfy, the breakfast very good and lots of hot water too. The staff work really hard to make the best of it. They have a good chef, and dinner was above expectations. But the view is the best!
Well aware hotel is old .
Have stayed previously
We were not happy with our room .The view from both windows Wasn't a view as we had a roof all we saw was slate tiles .
There was plenty storage but only 3 coat hangers .Did ask for more and 4 were supplied.
Bathroom dated and Wasnt very clean .
After 2 nights realised had to put sign out for room to be cleaned .Have never had to ask for room to be cleaned in all our travels .
Beds were comfortable
One lamp just for show as plug wouldn’t reach socket annoying for that twin bed .
Communal areas were spacious and always could find a seat .
Ate once at the hotel and was very nice .
Breakfast was a good varied choice and plenty available .Staff very pleasant
Just disappointed re allocated room and housekeeping .
It’s not the first time we have stayed and it won’t be the last. The staff are all so friendly and appreciative. It is so peaceful in the rooms & the hotel is beautifully maintained. Looking at the hotel from the water as we approach is always special. Thanx again.

Lovely old building that seems to be under renovation. Friendly and helpful staff and nice public area. But whilst the bedroom and bed itself are good, the bathrooms are very dated The shower in our room operated off the taps and either ran cold or scolding hot. Dangerous if you have kids.
Having lived in Rothesay for a few years in the sixties I was familiar with the Glenburn but never stayed there. It is indeed a grand building with great sea views but showing its age in a few areas. It was built in the early 1800s so that's not surprising. Parking can be a bit restrictive as the property was constructed in the days of horse and carriage. Staff were courteous and the lounge area with the bar is very comfortable and spacious. I will definitely stay there again. Very reasonable rates as well.
