A stone lodge set in the grounds of an old farmhouse in the Charente countryside
L'oume Lodge is a beautiful retreat set in nearly 12 acres of orchards and meadows, surrounded by the picturesque countryside. The Lodge is situated on the grounds of a 200-year-old Charentaise farmhouse and boasts a private terrace, garden, and BBQ area for guests to enjoy, as well as a private gated entrance and parking area for multiple cars.
The highlight of the Lodge is the 12x6m swimming pool (open seasonal between mid-April to end of September) with a summer kitchen, built-in BBQ and wisteria-covered seating area. The depth of the pool is 1.25m throughout with a shallow side pool which is perfect for toddlers. The expansive garden and meadows offer a peaceful sanctuary where guests can relax and enjoy the breathtaking views and natural wildlife.
Please Note: The pool, summer kitchen and wisteria-covered eating area are shared with the other gite, but there is plenty of space around the pool to have private areas.
The lodge features an open-plan living room, dining area, and kitchen equipped with various coffee-making facilities and all the cooking equipment and utensils you may need. It comprises two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a bunk bed and a single bed, as well as a double sofa bed in the living area. There's a spacious bathroom with a jack-and-jill style layout, featuring a bathtub and a shower, and a separate toilet located off of the hallway between the two bedrooms.
There's plenty of space for guests to store their bikes or kayaks and we have 2 Schwinn cruisers that guests are welcome to use to explore the local area. There will also be binoculars and a guide of local birds in the lodge for your use as well as a guide to all the local bric-a-bracs and brocantes on in the local area.
The property is on the edge of a small village located 30 minutes north of Angouleme. The town of Mansle, with all the facilities, is only a seven-minute drive away.
