Quaint, older boutique hotel in a vibrant neighborhood. Small but served our purpose for 1 short night before a cruise. Very clean and comfortable. Got in late so needed to call the phone number to be let in, but helpful staff. Hot room, wish the AC had been turned on, we needed to figure it out. Found out in the morning that they have an adorable outdoor atrium and a kitchenette with fresh coffee and a water cooler. Safe, locked front door, could leave our luggage in the lobby until we were ready to leave for the ship.

I am giving Canario 5 stars because I love the imperfection and quirkiness of a small inn in an old property hosted by lovely people who are personable and caring. That is what you will find at Canario. Is it perfect and new? No. But it is clean, comfortable and safe, in a great location, and it is reasonably priced as well. Friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable bed, good coffee and filtered water in the communal kitchen. Would definitely stay here again. Great food and drinks at Burrito Social just up the street!

The room was tiny, not clean, very dark! We were there 4 nights and not once did housekeeping come in except to leave 2 extra towels and did not take the dirty ones The very worst part of the stay was that we were told not to flush the toilet paper yet the garbage can was never emptied, we had to do it ourselves by dumping in the courtyard garbage, absolutely disgusting!!! Do not waste your money on this property or their other property, Casa del Caribe, we stayed in both and both were beyond terrible! I have stayed in 100s of hotels and these two are on the top worst!

Everything 1) Staff too busy talking with friends and ignored customers 2) check in took 45 minutes with only 2 people in front of me 3) Pictures very misleading....is really an old, rundown budget hotel 4) extremely noisy....little traffic on the street during the day (it was a Sunday), but at about 5 PM the street was bumper-to- bumper for hours with many noisy cars/trucks with loud exhausts and groups of very loud motorcycles cruising the street until 11:30 PM.......then the roosters started crowing at 3:25 AM 5) bathroom was tiny and cramped, and water in shower took more than 10 minutes running to get hot...and we had a larger bathroom on the cruise ship we just got off (and it was tiny) 6) and we paid for an upgraded room, and it was still bad.....Doors didn't fit and were squeaky when opened and floor corners and edges were very dirty

I think the hotel was good for what I used it for, A place to sleep & shower. I did the standard room, it was tiny for a solo traveler, can’t imagine it with another person. The shower water would go from hot to very hot, annoying but manageable. Room was clean. Shower was clean. AC was strong. The front desk were friendly and offered advice when asked. Great location. They provided beach towels and you have access to their sister hotels pool. They have a water filter in the common kitchen area & offer free coffee in the morning. Based on location, I would go back.

The location, affordability, and overall condition of this boutique hotel on Condado Beach are all awesome. The room decor was nice, but there are some areas to improve. There were no storage or shelving options in the bathroom for personal items. We had to go downstairs twice to get a working physical key for the room. However, the air conditioning was great and made the room temperature very comfortable. The main issues we had during our recent two nights day in January 2026 pertain to the non-functioning smart TV (it never connected to the Internet and we never received assistance to fix it), toilet issues which thankfully resolved themselves, but which were never addressed directly by staff, and overall low water pressure. The staff in all other respects were welcoming and helpful, and we will definitely stay at The Canario again. Just hope they continue on upgrading their offerings when possible. Thank you.

Staff was very kind and let me leave my luggage before checkin. the hotel is so convenient to the beach and a lot of restaurants, absolute perfect location. I love that they keep the front door locked, so you feel your belongings are safe, and no one can just wander in. It’s not the most modern hotel, but the lobby sitting area and outdoor patio are wonderful. The outdoor patio is a great place to sit with a morning coffee, and my room had a 2 large windows and new bed/ mattress. Would definitely recommend for a fun easy vacation.

The room/bed was clean. But, the window screen was broken and the window itself partially open & wouldn’t close. The bathroom doorknob was very hard to use. There is no elevator so be prepared to walk up a narrow staircase and no porters. That being said it is a very convenient location and friendly staff. It is very near the beach and restaurants, bars, etc. but, if you want to sleep before midnight, look elsewhere. Reasonable prices.

This boutique served its purpose. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible. Some negatives: no elevator so be prepared to carry your luggage up a few floors, very small room. I chose a king bed and that left limited space to get around the room especially when you have two large suitcases. The positives:

Staff were incredible, accommodated a very late check in, gave great recommendations on where to find affordable food/sundries. The hotel is loaded with charm, walls covered in oversized Chagall prints. We rented the Queen Superior room (#207)-the bed was soooo comfortable-firm yet soft. I way overslept because it was so great! The shower & baths were very small-built into what I expect were once closets (the actual door to the shower was a closet door!!) which added to the charm but would be terrible for a plus-sized traveler. Also-there is no elevator so you’re carrying your luggage up the stairs-request ground floor if you cannot do this. The outside patio area was perfect for our midnight snack hour. Everything was super clean. AC was cold, worked well. Door locks were a little wonky but they’re working on repairing. Aldo-no room safes present. Perfect location with groceries, drug stores, and restaurants within a block. LOVED THIS HOTEL STAY!

Excellent location in Condado. Close to stores, restaurants and the beach. Nice courtyard area to relax in. Staff very friendly Cons: No elevator, low water pressure in the shower, lots of traffic noise if your room faces Ashford Ave. as ours did. The winding mechanism on the window was broken and the window would not close. Sleeping was difficult but beds were very comfortable. Good price for the location.

The room was very clean but old. The lady that welcomed us was very nice and professional. The guy that checked us out was very accommodating as well since our flight didn’t leave for several hours after check out. The only issue we had was that the TV comes on but you can’t get any channels and it was late so we didn’t bother. Otherwise, it was a nice stay. I see a lot more potential if a little updating is done to the rooms. It’s a great little place.
