It’s a beautiful building. The rooms are very nice. There’s three places to eat in the building. The problem is the fine dining restaurant is only open on weekends. The bar/ grill was the only place to eat open. I really wanted a decent meal not bar food. I doubt there will be breakfast. Very disappointed.

Recommended downtown Scranton

Superb hotel downtown Scranton. Parking $5per day which is a bit off. Beautiful lobby and resturant in converted railway station and railway head office. Nice rooms but was striking was how friendly all the staff were. Reception, bar,room cleaners. Really welcoming.

Check in was quite delayed as only one person was on reception. She was doing a very good job to be fair to her, but people in front of us had a problem and this took her a while to resolve. This wasn't ideal for us when arriving after a long drive. However the hotel itself is a very interesting building, with its railway history. The marbled main concourse area is pretty unique, as is the hotel frontage. Also the air conditionong unit in our room wasn't working correctly. It would cool the room initially and feel like it was working, then an hour later you'd realise it had stopped working. Turning off and back on would give a similar burst of cold air, but then the room would warm up again. We travelled with two other people who had no issues with theirs so I think this was just an unfortunate, isolated issue.

It was a unique hotel experience because of the railroad station setting and its careful architectural restoration. So many beautiful things to see and marvel at, always a feast for the eyes - wonderful preservation of the steam train era in early to mid 20th century history. Every member of the staff we had contact with was not only friendly and helpful, but also reflected appreciation of this unique environment.

The bldg. had many art deco touches. I would have liked to update in bathrooms so you don’t slip in the showers. A rubber pad so you don’t slip would be a nice addition.

The first night of our stay the air conditioning broke. They provided us with a fan but it did nothing. Even when it was fixed it made a loud buzzing noise. The 2nd night Our bathroom door lock broke so the lock was stuck in the locked position. We were next to an elevator so it was also noisy.

This is an old hotel steeped in history. It’s also haunted so if you dislike your lights turning on and off for no reason, leaving to return & having your faucets running, hearing footsteps in the night then this is t the place for you be we live that stuff so we always stay here just for that reason. The food is excellent, & it’s walkable to sites down town.
