Room was nice and clean, but was quite cold overnight. Staff were very welcoming. We didn’t use the pool/gym facilities but it’s good that the option was there. There were people opening the fire door to smoke at the end of the corridor on the 4th floor, which lead to the whole corridor stinking several times throughout the evening. The cooked breakfast was underwhelming. Otherwise, an enjoyable stay. Beautiful hotel grounds. Ample parking.

I was so wanting hollins hall to be as magnificent as it was in its hey bday but unfortunately i left feeling really disappointed. On a positive, the reception staff were lovely and very helpful, as were the leisure centre staff, all very smiley and friendly. Unfortunately though the hotel in general just seems tired and unloved. The cleanliness was really lacking, ie hairs and dirt in the bathrooms, dust on the bedside tables, handprints on the glass doors & the rooms on my floor didn’t seem very sound proofed as you could hear conversations from other rooms.the bed was hard and bit lump, the pillows also very hard, and no spares in the rooms, just two on The beds. The hot food I had at breakfast wasn’t great,lots of choice but again it just all felt as though

Clean room, and generally very polite friendly staff- but one was extremely rude to me on arrival. We didn’t like the lack of light in the bedroom – it was hard to unpack, in midwinter , without straining one’s eyes! The café was an unwelcoming and unfortunate place: we wanted a cup of tea and a piece of cake, or at least a biscuit on arrival. All that was available to eat, without choosing something off the menu, was chocolate bars. It was also very noisy and dark with flashing lights. Not what you wanted to welcome you, after you had travelled a long way to get there. The breakfast was acceptable, but it seemed to have been sourced on the cheap. Furthermore, we did not like the Starbucks coffee in the café.

Online check-in was great. Staff were courteous and public areas of the hotel were top notch. We had a small issue in the cleanliness of the bathroom. The bed and pillows were firmer than we like, but not unacceptable. Over all we had a pleasant stay at Hollins Hall Hotel; thank you.

All as expected. A special mention to the F&B team in the restaurant, they were attentive, professional, clear polite and friendly.
