Great week-end ruined by unprofessional host
My family and I stayed at this property for a weekend with a group of adults and children. The home was well equipped and had a great waterfront area. There were a few minor issues during our stay, such as the dishwasher not working initially and slow Wi-Fi, but overall, we enjoyed the weekend.The day after checkout, the host contacted me saying cleaners had found a broken statue under a table. She stated we would be charged 200 for it, based on an online price she found, but could not provide a receipt as the statue had been a gift to her husband from his mother. I told her I was unaware of any damage but would check with my group. Everyone confirmed they had not broken the statue. Since we hadnât taken photos at checkout to prove its condition, I told the host we would still pay for it. She then said she would speak to her cleaners and waive the fee. However, VRBO later processed the 200 charge. When I contacted the host, she told me to speak with VRBO. After I did, she informed them her cleaners had not broken the statue and agreed to refund only 100 â going back on her earlier statement that she would waive the fee entirely.We had been willing to pay the full 200, but the hostâs inconsistency and unprofessional handling of the situation left a bad impression. Itâs unfortunate because the property itself was nice, but I would not recommend it due to the hostâs conduct.
