This is an old hotel so lots of character. There is an ancient lift that can take you up to the upper floors, but it is tiny. The walls are thin and the windows have no sound proofing so you can hear your neighbours as well as the noise from the High Street below. The staff were top notch and super helpful. Can’t say enough about them. The location is excellent and within walking distance to site seeing, shops, restaurants etc. We did have breakfast one morning in the hotel and would definitely not recommend. Expensive and terrible food. Overall we only stayed two nights before going on our cruise so it was doable but I doubt I’d stay here again.

Our trip was an overnight before a cruise Mike at the front desk was wonderful as the wonderful night lady. The hotel is 200 years old. Had all the modern conveniences with a 1800 feel. When we got off the lift we had to take the steps to floor 2 1/2. Restaurants and lots of shopping was very close by 2 minute walk.would definitely choose this hotel again

One Night Pre Cruise Stay

We were there for a RC Pre Cruise 1 night stay. The hotel will keep your large cases, as the rooms are smaller and you won't have to get them to your rooms as there is a bit of walking involved to reach your room. I packed a small over night which worked nicely. The staff is lovely and helpful. No ac but we did not need it, the windows open. A very nice Pub next door. You will need a taxi if you are going to the cruise port. It is not within walking distance. We paid for breakfast at check in. It was nice to stay in a bit of history.

Older hotel good for a 1 night stay

Interesting older hotel. Fire doors every 4-5 rooms. Lots of stairs. There is an old rickety elevator if you are on floor 2 or higher. Bed is a ok, but could use a cushioned mattress pad. Ok for an overnight stay before a cruise, but I wouldn't want to stay longer than that! There are a lot of restaurants and eateries close by.

Old hotel but room spacious and beds comfy, old furniture but bathroom seemed updated and spotless. Housekeeping lady from Brazil was lovely. Tea and coffee in the room. No fridge. Friendly and very help staff.. good location close to shops and shopping mall and cinema all in walking distance. Close to port.
