Peggy was excellent to communicate with and the check in was extremely easy. Our biggest concern was the description of air conditioning in the listing…it was a swamp cooler. It was definitely not air conditioning. There was also some lingering smells from the laundry and cleaning products used, which probably wouldn’t be an issue for a lot of folks, but I have an extreme sensitivity to smell (side effect of Covid), and it did cause some issues.

Great little home away from home
This cute cabin was a great little home away from home. Close to the parks and plenty of room. Peggy was a wonderful hostess, very attentive and provided everything we needed to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. Rustic comfort at its best. Definitely recommend!

Peggy, our host, is awesome and very responsive. We had instructions ahead of time and were able to find and enter our location smoothly. A few quirks, since the location is remote and surrounded by darkness, is that our kids were a little freaked out that one of the bedrooms has a connected dark storage room, separated by a drape, which scared them at night. A door would be preferable. Also, since the location is remote, people should be ready for ants, spiders, and rodents. Otherwise the beds were comfortable, and we used the kitchen to make food.

Cozy, natural and well equipped! Our first impression as we pull up in to the parking space was “WOW”!! The views of the valley and sunset from the property itself are a treat! The accommodation was perfect for a family of 5 (grandparents and kids included) along with our dogs. All rooms were well equipped and the walkin closet is more than enough to store and change clothes! It does give you a country feel! The resident quails and bunnies will occasionally greet you and will scamper as they hear you walk out the door!We really enjoyed sipping the complimentary bottle of red wine!

It felt very secluded like we wanted, and Peggy was a great host!

Clean property and gracious hosts
Overall the property was very clean and the hosts were great and very accommodating. Kitchenware was very dated and many items could not be used due to poor quality. Drive to Sequoia was at least 1.5 hours.
We stayed 3 nights in June. The host, Peggy and Mike are very nice and responsive throughout our stay. Bedrooms and bathroom are clean which is a plus for me. There’re ants, spiders and other bugs inside the house but it’s understandable given the remote and rural area. Dining option is very limited so be sure you prepare food prior. We didn’t use the outdoor grill but hope the host cover it to avoid dust since it’s a very nice grill. Kitchen has everything you need for simple meals. There’re a complimentary bottle of wine plus a bag of ice in the freeze which we found convenient and thoughtful of the host. Overall, we enjoyed the stay.

Rodent-infested - stay elsewhere!
The house has a festering rodent infestation that negatively impacted our trip. We found fresh mouse droppings (pictured) throughout the house upon arriving for our stay and each morning after waking up, and a mouse ran into the bathroom from under the sink one evening while I was using the toilet. The house is generally dingy otherwise, and perhaps this could be understood given the relatively remote location, but the blatant rodent problem moves the house into the category of disgusting and unsafe. One of the bedroom doors also does not close all the way (pictured at its most closed position). This resulted in increased anxiety regarding the rodent problem for the guest who stayed in this room, since there was no way to fully shut the door and attempt to prevent rodent access to the room from the house common areas.Avoid, avoid, avoid.
As any normal person I was skeptical that it was going to be as pictured but I was not disappointed. Everything was amazing and beautiful! The area is great and the distance to get out into nature and reconnect was within reach here. I felt safe with my three small kids and didn't feel embarrassed with their rowdiness because it was just our family enjoying the sun and nature during the day and being bathed in stars at night. Thank you to the host, Peggy for her great hospitality and supplying all the things needed for a great stay. Pet friendly!!

Nice and quant home. She really took the time to add lots of nice helpful touches from labeling cabinets to tips for staying in the countryside like storing food in the fridge during ant season. The kids loved the trundle bed. The home is loved and the area was so peaceful! Bring a telescope as it’s perfect for stargazing out there :)

Cozy and quiet retreat close to Sequoia NP
Easy check-in, property is secluded but also a quick drive away from Sequoia NP which made it a great place to relax after spending the day exploring the park. Photos are accurate and property is clean, beds are comfortable, and has a spacious common area. Appreciated the complimentary wine upon arrival - will be sure to reserve a tasting next time!

National Park Adventure
This property was a great spot for our visit to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. From the location we could explore each park and relax in comfort in the evenings. The space was great for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) with room and beds to spare. Check-in and check-out was also seamless.
The owners keep the property in very clean condition inside. This is a nice, quiet retreat.

Repairs & Maintenance needed
My family of 4 and 2 pups stayed 3 nights in this home. We enjoyed the location of this property the most. When we first arrived we immediately could spell a rotting dead animal smell on the property and reported it to the home owner who said it was probably a deal rabbit that the near by coyotes probably killed. The smell lasted our entire stay. We could not open the windows in the house because the smell would fill up the home. The home was in need of many repairs & maintenance. The front door handle was super loose and the door was rusting. My husband went ahead and tightened the door handle himself. The home did not feel particularly clean either. There were cobwebs in the home, and the rug in the living room was very dirty. There were a few stains on the carpet in the master bedroom as well. The beds were comfortable and the homeowner did have lots of snacks & a free bottle of wine for us to enjoy, which was nice. This is not a bad property to stay at, it really just needs a good cleaning and some maintenance. I would stay here again if the home owner would give some care into the home.

We felt taken care of
The property was clean, and very well-stocked for our stay and for meals prepared there. We also felt well-taken-care-of, both en route to their property - when we needed to dodge a wildfire en route from San Diego, and also during our stay with Peggy's kind check-ins and tour advice. Arrive before sunset (the drive up is a bit winding/hilly but very pretty and peaceful for the soul!) and bring your groceries, and you'll be set for exploring beautiful Sequoia NP. Thanks, Peggy and team!!

Up a mountain in Dunlap
Wildlife abounded, coyotes, rabbits, a rattlesnake, quail, and many other birds. The house was in a great location, up a mountain with views of Fresno. We visited Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Yosemite, and the Pacific Ocean. The host kindly let us check in early and offered to help direct our route back to the airport if the roads were still closed due to the Lightning Complex Fire that happened during our stay.

King's Canyon Getaway
If you are looking for a vacation home close to King's Canyon that is not located within the park, this is a great option. About a 20 minute drive back and forth and the experience of staying more remote than rooms in the park. Bear Mountain pizza was awesome!

Memorial Day Trip to Kings Canyon and Sequoia
Maggie, the host, was super helpful when we found ourselves in Fresno earlier than we thought. And there is not a lot to do in Fresno. The house is cute, the view is pretty spectacular. It is literally on top of a foothill/mountain so getting up and down takes a little time (especially if heights scare you a bit :). My only complaint about the house is there is no dishwasher and my teenagers are not effective when washing dishes so I was redoing all their dishes, I did miss a dishwasher. And that area is a restaurant desert, so think about food and what you want to cook before you get there. We ate in Kings Canyon and it was mediocre at best but we were hungry and tired so no one complained but looking back I wish I would have known that there were just no good restaurant options within a 30-45 minutes drive from there (except a pizza place 20-25 minutes away). But we had a great time exploring the area and Kings Canyon and Sequoia did not disappoint!
