5:35 a.m. fire alarm goes off. I grab my family and run out the door, in pajamas oddly there’s no alarm going off in the hallway. We opened the stairwell. The alarm is blaring. Lobby the alarm is blaring. We are outside in 33 degree weather, valet is nowhere to be seen so we can’t even get in our car. An elderly couple is the only other people evacuating. At 06:04 the fire department show up. A family of 4 passes us and says the alarm never went off on the 3rd floor. Front desk says we can go back to our rooms. I ask if we’re gonna be comped for the room he says, of course. At checkout, I ask about the refund. Rudely she says no you’ll have to talk to a manager due to the “event”. I wait for 15 minutes. At which point I pull up a nearby chair and sit infront of checkin, as I wait I ask every other patron about the fire alarm they say they never heard it. This is DANGEROUS. The manager then walks up and stands a foot away looming the chair I’m sitting in and says what you’re doing is inappropriate, you’re disturbing our guests. I ask if he and his hotel value the safety of their patrons. I stand up and the manager is a foot away from me, trying to be intimidating, staring me down and says what are you gonna do, I say I want the room comped for my lack of sleep and I want the other patrons to know if there was an “event” Hyatt’s fire alarm system failure is in violation of the fire code. Manager says nothing only stares until I pull my phone out to record. January 27 2026.
