Lovely old building. However shame its rather tired. Thread bare carpets. Food not great, breakfast poor , orange juice tastes rather odd, fruit salad fizzy from tins, green thai curry again very odd . Gym water stains in ceiling ans floor , swimming pool floor needs a good scrub!

Breakfast was fresh although I asked for a poach egg with my breakfast 3 times and it never arrived . Ended up leaving without . Room was spacious, bathroom wasn’t as good bath was dirty and bin hasn’t even been emptied from previous occupants. Our room was by a fire door which kept being banged and kids running down the corridor.

Hotel with so much opportunity but sadly lacking the finer touches that would make it such a better experience Rooms & much of hotel are very dated but clean Staff appeared very stressed and would suggest more needed Spa could be lovely with a bit of TLC, especially the changing rooms. The relaxation area was freezing. The treatment was goof but the surroundings area let the experience down. No ekectric chargers available and this was one of the reasons I booked the hotel.

The grounds are beautiful The hotel bar & restaurant areas are pleasant - rooms are very basic although clean - the corridors are well worn but again clean The spa was pleasant although well worn like the hotel. With some TLC it could be lovely - cafe area was cold and very basic as was the spa ‘ relax area’. Very well worn changing rooms with no locks on changing lockers The massage however was very good. Breakfast was of good quality, we ordered a prosecco afternoon tea for 4pm, we asked 3 people when it would be served - it eventually turned up at 4.50pm - very basic -2 squares of dried up cake 2 pieces of some kind of dry tart?! 2 dry scones and a few sandwiches- one tea cup between 2? no prosecco! I did raise it and the restaurant manager told me I had received a ‘ spa tea’ in error ( although I was sat in restaurant?!) and took away top tear of cake only to bring back the same with a few strawberries placed on top ?! Again a real shame as it could have been lovely in a nice setting. The reception staff appeared highly stressed, they were trying their best but it appeared they were short staffed No electric car chargers worked and this was one of the reasons we chose the hotel

Yes,had a good time,but bar was disappointing,the bar man was over charging everyone,and rounding prices up,2 pints off shandy and 1 pint off cider cost 20.00 pound... No change given back, definitely wrong prices,being told to different customers..

The room was filthy. The shower curtain was covered in scum, and there were hair shavings on the bathroom floor from a stay prior to ours. Also we were placed at the very back up the hotel down three flights of steps. Since we traveled from the US for an extended amount of time we had multiple pieces of luggage. We ultimately left several bags in the car as lugging them down 4 hallways and down 3 flights of steps (which means up 3 flights on the way out) was not feasible. At checkout, the lady in the office saw me standing there yet I had to call to her twice for her to come and check me out. I would avoid this place at all costs.
