Cons outweighed benefits

I’ve stayed at this Meriton as well as many others before, however this was the first time I had a negative experience. I emailed the manager about my experience, and have yet to hear back from them 5 days later. I expect a lot better when paying over $1,500 for 7 days. These are all the issues I had: - Bleach used to clean the sheets & towels must be so toxic that it caused me to have rashes. Had to buy some sheets & a towel to use during my stay - switched to firm mattress since my last stay. The bed was extremely uncomfortable & you could feel the joiner piece between the two single beds - A Fire alarm went off at 10pm one night - Main aircon turns off when pushing any of the buttons, so couldn’t turn it on at all - The toilet had some strange bug or something stuck to the side of the toilet in the water - One lift had been broken the entire week which meant waiting a while for a lift - Power points are slow to charge & deplete the battery quickly - Kitchen sink dirty - Shower sink blocked so water was nearly rushing out the shower - Bad smell from bathroom drains - Reception called me twice before 11am even though I organised a checkout at 11am upon checkout. I asked them when checking out why they were calling and said to check what time I was checking out. When I said I’d organised an 11am checkout, she said no notes were in their system - Phone network isn’t available in the room

What we liked was the location, the proper kitchen, our own washer & drier & the cost. See previous review. What we were disappointed about this time was the room we were allocated. We had stayed for 9 days on the 13th floor with a slightly obstructed view over part of the airport. We really enjoyed being able to watch the planes coming & going 24/7. Before checkout the first time I spoke to a staff member about whether there were any rooms with a better view for the same cost and if so, could we book one of those when we returned in 3 days. I was advised that there was a room & that it would be reserved for us when we returned for the last 2 nights in Sydney. However, when we returned on Sunday, full of anticipation for watching the planes, we were to be very disappointed. Instead of the room we had been promised we were allocated a room on the 6th floor on the inside of the building with a view of the garden only & hemmed in by high rise all round. No planes could be seen anywhere! The room was alongside the Garbage Services room & was fully equipped with a handicapped bathroom which we found confronting, given neither of us are in anyway disabled. Unfortunately it absolutely took the gloss off what had been an otherwise enjoyable stay for the previous 9 days and was a major disappointment to us both. If there is a 'next time' I would ask for any similar undertaking in writing. Lesson learned.

Very easy access to the train system & airport was the reason I booked, as well as the fact there was a proper kitchen & laundry in the suite. Meriton Suites more generally were recommended by a friend and it was easy to book. The suite was spacious & safe with views of flights in & out of the Airport which was good. The huge bed was far too big for the room but very comfy. I couldn't figure out how to operate the Ilve microwave or convection oven or whatever it was and gave up after several attempts. There were no plugs in either kitchen sink or the laundry so I had to ask for them. There were no cooking pots or saucepans, casserole dishes or the like & a giant roasting pan. I had to ask for some pots & pans as it is hard to cook with nothing to cook in! The 9 day booking was for 2 people only but I was given 2 large family size pots when I asked for pans. The most annoying thing was that the exhaust fan in the kitchen has to be on whenever one uses the toaster or cooks at all. I was using the stove oven & set the fire alarm off by opening the door. It was very stressful as there is a sign advising guests can be charged for a fire brigade call out. Luckily the smoke alarm stopped squawking before that happened. However, when the fan is on it is incredibly noisy &, as it is in line with the tv, it was difficult to hear the tv while cooking. The staff were lovely & obliging every time we asked for something or had questions. Overall, recommended.

Close to the airport but just far enough from the CBD to be more reasonably priced, a great spot for business or a weekend getaway (if you have a rental car!)

Great location! Next to Woolworths, train and bus station. Literally 10min drive to the international airport. Loads of dining areas in walking distance. The property is clean, modern and the rooms are really spacious. Definitely recommend! A+++
