The staff barely speaks English so it was a little challenging. Also the reception desk asked me if I would like to leave a tip for the staff as an extra charge to me. I was surprised by this since gratuities and VAT taxes are usually included in Europe. It seems everyone is begging for tips and gratuities these days, I was not happy being put on the spot about tipping. This is not usual in Europe. There is a lot of confusion at this hotel with the staff as well as Trieste in general due to the language barrier.

The room was in good condition. The male staff member at the check in was not friendly at all. We were not offered any upgrades and had to ask for our bottle of wine which was not offered either . Nothing special about this stay. We chose this hotel for the convenience of the ship port being right accross the street .

Great hotel, huge family room, very clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was also great, friendly staff, good variety. The location of the hotel is perfect, we walked from the train station when we arrived and also walked to restaurants and If there was one thing that disappointed me was the view from our window… the building across the street had the most dirty windows I ever seen LOL… from the birds sitting on it. Not the hotel’s fault but I wouldn’t get that room for the view. We gave a good laugh at it but I would check with the hotel if your trip is for a special occasion.
