This is a lovely hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is situated close to the lake with lovely gardens. Road leading to the hotel is narrow and twisty. Would stay here again if I was visiting this part of the country again.

We were a little disappointed by the Lakeside Hotel. We felt that there was a lack of warmth and friendliness from some of the staff, and no real interest in ensuring we had a good stay. The initial check in was quite cold and business-like, and throughout our stay many staff dealt with us in quite a disinterested way. There was a fire alarm which woke us up one night. Having rushed outside, we weren't given any explanation or reassurance, and were just told it was ok to come back in. When we checked out, we werent asked how our stay was, we were just told there were no charges. There were some exceptions, but overall throughout our stay we felt the service lacked warmth. We also weren't impressed by the food. At breakfast on one day, our food was both overcooked and cold by the time it reached us, which was about 30 minutes after we'd put in our orders. In fairness it was much better the next day when we went at a quieter time, but I would expect the quality of the food to be consistent (particularly given the cost) even if it takes a bit longer when it's busy. The positive was the bed which was really comfy. It's a shame as the hotel is in a beautiful locaton, but I feel that there is a waste of the potential for this to be a place we'd want to return to.

No housekeeping service done despite 4 follow ups and two visits to front desk. No water replenishment, towels, tea or milk despite booking and paying for a suite. No one picked up housekeeping phone. The hotel manager was distinguished by his absence. Complete apathy.

Exceptional hotel we will visit again

Overall we had a excellent time. All staff very friendly,attentive and helpful. Food was excellent in the restraunt in the evening, as was breakfast... with lots of variety, and quality of food was of a very high standard. We had a family room which was lovely and clean and very spacious & comfortable. Only negative id say is that the room is probably due an upgrade as the bathroom was starting to look a little tired. Id definitely recommend and we will certainly stay again.

Lovely room and stunning views, very clean, ev car charging really useful, good food, most of the staff really helpful. A really enjoyable stay, but some areas need attention..we had a non working fridge, which was replaced and no longer fitted into the cupboard, so it was left alongside and was very noisy whilst trying to sleep, which we had to unplug. We did mention this at reception, but it was still there when we left. Shower spray not working, reported, but not fixed. Some parts of the property need maintenance and a mix up on the settling up of the bill when we left.

We enjoyed a weekend stay in a lake view room last weekend. We arrived early and was provided with a car parking permit to allow us to then explore the area before checking in. Our room was excellent. It was large, warm and the bathroom had underfloor heating. Once checked in, we explored the spa which was great. A small swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna and steam room were just what was needed on a relaxing weekend away. We had made reservations for the Ruskins restaurant in the hotel. The service and food was excellent and we really enjoyed our meal. Breakfast was also excellent. There was a buffet selection of pastries, fruit, cereal, yoghurts etc and we also ordered from the menu. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing weekend away.

Had a fabulous 5 days here. Staff were very attentive and professional at all times. Rooms clean and food, both breakfast and at dinner was extremely good. Only criticism was the wifi in the room we had which overlooked the lake was very very poor.

Breakfast not included, we’ve booked and stayed here with hotels.com several times and breakfast has always been included but this time the hotel or hotels.com changed their policy and it wasn’t included. Disappointing and embarrassing when we went down for our breakfast.
