This is a lovely hotel. It is set in a stunning location, with views from the conservatory across the lake. The hotel is beautiful inside, with lovely dining areas serving excellent food, friendly and helpful staff, a lovely spa and swimming pool, and nicely decorated bedrooms. The hotel is also dog-friendly. The Windermere cruises depart from outside the hotel, and it is also a short walk across the car park to the Lakeside Aquarium and Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway.

Hotel overall a little 'tired' (decor' \ broken kettle \ carpet vacuumed \ daily room maintenance). Staff willing and personable but inexperienced. Leaking radiator issue well dealt with by upgrade. Restaurants not available at weekend unless booked in advance, despite apparent seating capacity. Food of a good standard and quality. Spa minimal but adequate as recreational swim \ sauna. Dogs allowed in main restaurant being fed by owners (food put on carpet), snuffling at waiters serving cloths (which were then used to serve other guests) raises hygiene questions overall. Trading on past reputation between classic and modern, a casual mid range hotel for dog owners.

Fabulous Anniversary weekend

Superb stay for our anniversary. Accomadated the dog which was great. Even got ev charging points which only found out aboout at end of stay £25 per day . Would of meant no need to detour to kendal sainsburys on route . Great base for exploring lakes , not in the full hustle bustle of bowness but only a 40 min boat ride away .

very dated building and ambiance , although renervations were taking place on our stay , the qaulity of the room we stayed in was very old fashioned and limited charging points / sockets etc. Not sure in my opinion it was worth £175 per night , think the hotel is playing on its location and time gone bye provenance to justify the accomadation,food and drink prices.

Relaxing stay to celebrate my birthday. Free upgrade to spacious lakeview room. Pancakes on the house for shrove Tuesday. Excellent pool facility. Great breakfast.

Overall lovely hotel

We have visited The Lakeside Hotel a few times now - last year we did the murder mystery event which was good and great value for money with evening meal, overnight stay and breakfast included so I would recommend. Most recent stay 22nd Feb 2 nights as a family and our friends family from Sweden - overall great hotel and the kids loved it. The only down side I would say is some (not all) of the restaurant/bar staff are laxidazy when it came to taking orders a few of our orders for breakfast over the weekend was brought wrong even the second and third attempt they got wrong which was frustrating. But apart from that we enjoyed our stay.

I liked the property as it was facing the lake , where you could see the boats going by, the grounds were kept neat and tidy and you could walk on several trails. I do think if you want to explore other places for longer,you might need transport although the boat and trains are close bye but restricted on times.

Overpriced for a poor service. Ignored repeatedly by staff at lunch time and the breakfast service was even worse. The room was tired, with a carpark view (paid over £200/night). Questionable hairs on the bathroom floor, lots of cracked tiles and mould on the bath seal. There are certainly much better hotels at that price point.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The pool was fantastic for children and open from 7-7. A lovely touch to have a child’s welcome pack. The duck food was a lovely idea too and our daughter really enjoyed it. A great base to explore with the aquarium, steam boat and steam train on the doorstep. About to 10-20mins from other shops.

A Welcome Break

Very relaxing, obviously out of season but plenty staff available. Great accommodation looking over gardens and across lake windermere. Spa was available and a nice sized swimming pool, jacuzzi & sauna's. Limited menu, but still a good choice and variety.
